My Guest ~ Airicka Phoenix
Hello again all! Thank you once more for having me. Thank you, Julia, for allowing me to take over for you, even if it’s only for a little while. As an author, it’s always a thrill to get the opportunity to talk to others about writing, about the material I’m working on now and just this new world I’ve ventured into that is so unlike the original. I think until you’re a writer that statement sounds very odd. Most people wouldn’t understand it, but when you begin that process, putting thought to paper, imagination to pen, you’ll notice the difference. The two worlds, the one you see every day around you and the world that spills free with every flow of ink are two completely separate places.
That said, the world inside your head is what you make it. It’s a place you can hide when reality becomes too much. It’s a place where you can make anything happen, where you are anyone you want to be. For an author, this place is sacred. We’re greedy with it. We try so hard not to let anything tarnish it. But that’s not always an easy task, especially when we sometimes have to delve into dark, shadowy corners of that place, the places we keep at bay, for inspiration to something we’re writing. That was the case with me while writing Touching Eternity.
I think I can say with absolutely certainty that writing this novel, writing these characters, was the hardest thing I have ever had to do. Putting myself into Amalie’s shoes was the most painful experience of my life. It wasn’t enough that I had to research material that literally had me in tears, but I had to slip into a character that was so broken, so shattered that being there felt like getting nicked a million times and then rolled in salt. I’m a strong believer that what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, but while writing this book, I felt anything but strong. There were mornings I hated the very idea of getting out of bed. I didn’t want to go back into that world, a world that I created. It was so heavily soaked in memories of that book that it was no longer a place of sanctuary. It took a lot of prodding and bribing and motivation on my part, a lot of support from my friends, before I was able to sit and finish the piece. For me, I think I can say with absolute certainty, that Touching Eternity will always be a point proven. If I could write that, if I could finish that, make it through that, I can finish anything, which is a very important key to being an author.
No matter how difficult the task, how high the mountain, you can conquer it. You can make it and when you get to the top, the rewards are infinite.
So, keep writing. Keep doing what you do. What doesn’t kill you, really will make you stronger.
Thank you again for having me. It’s always such a pleasure talking with fellow readers, writers and bloggers. I wish you an infinity of love in what you do and who you are.
All the best,
Airicka
Oh wow, Airicka I as a reader can relate to an extent to what you have gone through writing Touching Eternity! As a reader, I go through the same things the characters go through, feeling their pain and their happiness. Imagining the entire story, and getting in touch with the characters is the only way to read a book. A lot of authors have that touch when writing that allows readers to completely fall into the story and experience everything in the story. My Dear, you have that touch! I cannot express that enough! I loved Touching Smoke and Touching Eternity and I'm sure my followers will too!
Touching Eternity Blurb & Review
Blurb
Before Fallon was created to destroy. Before love became the ultimate
weapon of destruction. There was Amalie and the horror that started a
revolution that tore the fabric of humanity, of everything standing in
the balance between power, hope and survival.
Amalie has one wish, one gnawing desire — she wants to die.
She wants to leave this world behind with its pain and darkness. She wants to finally breathe. But Amalie is a prisoner, a disease, not fit for life. She is unwanted, unnatural. She is defective, something useless and broken. Her own mother hadn’t wanted her. Her father hated her. The world shunned her and the only person she had ever loved, truly and with all her heart and soul, couldn’t stand the sight of her, couldn’t stand the thought of ever being with her. She repulsed him. Her insanity disgusted him. He’d forgotten her. He’d left her behind, deserted and abandoned her to a madman hell bent on crushing her, stealing her soul and shattering her will.
But what if she’s finally given hope? A reason to live? Can Amalie finally accept the hand offering so much for so little in return? Can she love again when she has nothing left to give?
Can she finally be free?

My Review
As I was reading book one, Touching Smoke there were bits that described some of what Fallon and Isaiah had been through, their history together and where it all began. I say touch because it was nothing like what I experienced reading this book. Touching Eternity is amazing, it goes back and gives us readers the ultimate, descriptive story about the beginning. The back story I should say. It touches on all the why's of Amalie and Isaiah past and history together.
The story is very detailed,
descriptive, easy to imagine all that the story has to offer from
beginning to end. In detail everything Garrison had done to Amalie,
and as her father he should never have done half of what he did. The
pain and torture her father put her through. A madman, a very weak
word to describe Garrison. The thought of self blame, as Amalie
blames herself rather than blaming her father for everything. Isaiah,
oh my Isaiah, her only hope, the love she learns she has for him, her
anchor, her very breath of life.
“I won't fall for you again. I
won't let you hurt me again. Stay away, Isaiah. Go back
to...whatever her name was! She can have you.” ~ Amalie
The choices Isaiah has to make,
decisions that will change his life forever! To follow his dreams or
to stay with the woman he loves... I just love Isaiah, his character
is just everything that a male character should be, especially in
this story. He's Amalie's everything, and to leave her could mean
her death at the hands of a madman. How can he ever let her down,
ever turn away from her, ever choose to be without her. Oh the
choices Isaiah must make... The thoughts of where he could be in
life keep him distracted, thoughts that should be of where he is
headed and what he has to do for his love.
'There was no one else. There never
was. He would have fallen to his knees right there and then and
confessed it all, but she was running away from him.' ~ Isaiah
