We have all experienced the rebellion that normally happens as you are about to graduate from high school and step into the adult world of university and jobs. It is normal to rebel and forge ahead shaping your dreams into real life. This is how we discover who we are and take responsibility for our destinies.
As a mother, dealing with teenagehood rebellion, we all remember how we struggled through that life passage. We also have the experience of having lived through obstacles, defeat, and a reality that the dreams we had when we were young will either die or we had to change them in order to survive.
This book focuses on the impact a fatal accident has on a mother and a daughter trying to survive the loss and the changes to their lives. In a very real way, it presents us with two perspectives that will need to be faced before our mother/daughter duo will be able to repair their relationship.
Be prepared to cry, deeply examine life, and finally grow with our characters. The writing style is fantastic. It is succinct with just the correct amount of embellishment. This helps the reader focus on the plotline without transgressions.
I wholeheartedly recommend this book to all mothers and daughters as I remember the nostalgia of growing up and showing my own daughter that dreams are meant to be followed. Sometimes our original dreams will need some tweaking, but living without a dream or goal we can embrace with our soul can only result in stagnation and a life of rote.
