My Guest ~ Jessica Kong
If “A Lost Kitten” could be made into a movie, who would play the lead roles?
Funny, you would ask. I have a collection of actor images that I have associated with my characters. Ben Mansfield is labeled John McCall, and Lena Headey from The Brothers Grimm is Jasira Eversole.
Nook, Kindle, Kindle Fire, iPad, Paperback, or Hardcover? Why?
I personally love hardcover books. I’m old school, I associate hardcover with status and quality. If I ever get to see one of my books in hardcover, I would cry. But whether it’s a hardcover book or a paperback, I prefer handheld books over electronic. There is nothing like the smell of a book, or the texture of the pages, or the sound it makes when you turn the page. I am so happy that I managed to pass that love along to my three kids. They, too, prefer handheld books over electronic, and they’re fourteen, the new generation.
What’s your hidden talent?
I would have to say my imagination.
What would you do if you weren’t an author?
I really don’t know. I love children and I majored in early childhood education and early childhood psychology. So maybe I would work in some form of child-based setting. I have worked in the library, so I could return there or work in a bookstore. I have also worked in an office setting for many years, I can return there. But in all honesty, I don’t want to. I LOVE WRITING.
How big is your personal library? What genre do you read/collect the most?
Big. Over 200 books and growing every day.
I started with historical romances then switched over to paranormal romances. I also collect regular horrors, thrillers, science-fiction, and fantasy novels. Anything that catches my eye and demands to be kept. My husband and children have started to add their own collections to my shelves, which means you would find books on self-improvement, home improvements, text books, YA books, animes, mangas, and comic books (mine).
What’s your favorite hobby outside of writing?
I love to do jigsaw puzzles. I can’t get enough of them. I frame them and use them as artwork.
What do you love about being an author?
I love to put the images in my head on paper and see them all come together in a story.
What do you hate about being an author?
I love talking to people. I love meeting new people. But I hate promoting my books. I know it’s a necessity, but I sometimes feel like it’s bragging, and I’m not like that. Therefore, promoting my book makes me very uncomfortable.
What inspires you?
Horror and fantasy type books and movies with great character development and plots. They really get my creative juices flowing.
Do you tend to base your characters on real people or are they totally from your imagination?
All my characters are created in my little brain.
How did you come up with your book title?
It was my little brain’s doing. I wanted something that would tie together the series and have a direct connection to the main character in the book. Once you read the book, you would get a very clear understanding why I chose A Lost Kitten. My husband hates the title, but I feel it makes me different, and I like to be different.
What’s your favorite font?
Until you asked this question, I never considered that people would have a favorite font. It made me laugh, but you’re right. I personally use Arial, size 12 when I write my stories. Only when I submit them, do I change the fonts to the standard courier 12 size.
A Lost Kitten Blurb & Review
Blurb
Seacat John McCall labels the attack on the Sea-anan Empire as a nightmare. He escapes the enemy’s invasion, only to find himself stranded on a distant planet called Surreal. Tormented by thoughts of his family being massacred or captured by the enemy, he focuses on returning to aid them until he experiences a mind-boggling kiss that can only come from the one he is meant to share his life with. To ease the terror he feels for his family, John seeks the identity of his secret admirer. He quickly learns the true meaning of nightmare when he discovers his soul mate is of “the mist.”
Jasira Eversole is drawn to the powerfully built outlander sitting at the king’s table. Unable to resist the need to see him again, she enters the warrior’s room while he sleeps. John’s rugged good looks and chiseled body compel Jasira to reach out and touch him. Being of the mist, Jasira knows she will not be able to feel John, but she cannot resist his pull. The richness of John’s hair, the firmness of his muscles, and the clean scent of his skin all take Jasira off guard. She swiftly realizes John is her intended mate. Now, Jasira must somehow convince the young warrior that they are two halves of one soul without chasing him off Surreal, leaving her to a lonely existence as mist.

My Review
The setting of this wonderful book starts off May, 15th 2020, captivating from the beginning. I fell for John's character early on and was frustrated with Dena's character but Jasira's character touched my heart like no other. The character's chemistry and emotions played out well. They bonded to each other, built from the beginning with just one kiss.
The story was well thought out and flowed smoothly from one scene to the next. There was no stone left unturned, no questions left unanswered. Yes, there were questions along the way but all were answered just when needed to know. You know those books that leave you wanting to know something and it gets to the point of being frustrating to not know. Not with this book, just when I needed to know I found out. It left me wanting more, with each turn of the page.
The author's choice of words during sensual scenes had me amazed and left wondering where some of the terms came from. Oh they were all good really, just new to me. Some of the scenes were so darn hot the room itself warmed up around me. There are no words to describe the heat that radiated off the book as the romantic scenes played out in this story.
I seriously could not put the book down, read within a 24 hour period, and just escaped into a world Jessica wrote to enjoy. I did, I truly did enjoy the escape from reality. If you want to just let to, pick up this book, it will take you to a place unheard of in this day and age, but to a place years down the road, that will leave you wanting more.
