Lilah is one of the most complex and traumatized characters I have read in a while. She has one secret she shares with Kane Mendez and it is so damaging they would both end up in jail.

She is the top profiler for the FBI assigned to catch a serial killer who has a particular method of killing. Little did she know when she was given this assignment she would end up back in New York after years of avoiding anything to do with her family and her ex Kane. This killer is sending her messages and everything she holds dearly is in danger.

I was caught up in this story from the first chapter. I love complex characters who are strong enough to understand their dark psyche and yet continue to function while hiding their secrets. I can hardly wait to read the next installment of this story. Lilah has a puzzle to put together if she is to catch her killer... her life is in danger as well as Kane's and perhaps even her family. What a ride!

I scan the ocean, expecting it to turn to blood, but it simply crashes to the shore.

I turn to the house and take a step, then stop abruptly, a shadow flickering by the house. A shiver runs down my spine. There it is again. Another shadow. Someone is there. My Review

I have to admit it, I have read the Fifty Shades Trilogy by E. L. James more than ten times.  Yes, I am a fan.  

As a first time writer, she tapped into something that we women needed ~ a darker shade of foreplay from a book.  Forget the comments about her grammar not being perfect, etc. The first book introduces us to the characters and the situation they find themselves in... and the choices they have to make.

By the time you get to read the second book, curiosity is galloping to find out why is Christian this way, what was his past like, and what would Ana have to do to accept his ways... or not!

Movies are never as good as the books.  My expectations were that they would cut some things out but at least leave in those parts that explain more of the psychological upheaval that is Christian.  It makes his choices more believable and his sacrifice and adjustment more real.  Sorry folks, the movie is not a single shade DARKER than a medium dark.

Don't get me wrong, if you are looking for hot sex scenes, an enjoyable movie, and some good songs to go with it, this is your movie.  The actors are more at ease with each other and they make the scenes more believable. On the other hand, if you were looking for a look into the DARKER side of Christian Grey and why he is the way he is, just be satisfied by reading the book.

The movie does not lie.  It does announce that it is "based on the book..."  In typical Hollywood fashion, it means they kept the main characters, kept somewhat of a storyline that somehow reminds you of the book, but in the end, the producers decided to make a hot, sexy movie that is marketable as an R-rated movie.

I thought for sure there would be fireworks between Sasha and Cole.  She was so damaged after her scene with Peter... both mentally and physically.  Cole being such an intense and all-consuming Dom just did not seem like  a likely pair.

Surprise!  This is such a love story!  Yes, submission and dominance are the strong undercurrents, but more than that,  the interaction between Cole and Sasha is something to read and wonder about.  This is really a journey for both of them.  While Sasha is working at healing and build back her self-esteem, Cole is becoming more aware of her fragility and the need she has for his protection.

This book is highly recommended.  Brilliantly written, classy, it is a book you won't be able to put down.

"I understand why you'd do that, but your time would be better spent asking yourself what qualities you're looking for in a Dom." He reached into his pocket and took a twenty dollar bill out. "Do you know how they train people to recognize counterfeit money?"
Her forehead wrinkled and she frowned in puzzlement. "Sir?"
He passed her the twenty. "They don't give them the counterfeit bills to study. They only touch and hold the real thing. They become so accustomed to the real money that they immediately recognize the fraud."
"I'm not sure I understand what you're trying to say, Sir."

To anyone looking into River's upbringing, it would seem he was brought up in a normal home, entitled because of the money his father made.  His mother always maintained the illusion that she cared.  But River keeps secrets well.  Not a soul knows what really happened to him as he was growing up.  It will touch your heart when you read the torment that still wrecks his sleep and his self-esteem.  Drugs were his way out to escape and they have been his best friends since he was sixteen.

Having said all this, I find River a tormented sould seeking refuge.  Perhaps Keanna is what he needs. But is he what is good for Keanna?

Heartfelt and definitely engrossing, I loved this book.  One tiny, itty bitty critique... In the beginning, I wish the author had covered a little more about River's injury.  The book just abruptly starts.  A smoother beginning would have been appreciated.  No matter, the rest of the book is great!

What begins as a game of Truth or Dare and a blindfolded earthshaking kiss evolves into a story that will tug your hearts and put an extra bounce in your step. Our author takes a rake/womanizer/player, Blake, and throws him for a loop by pairing him with a drop dead gorgeous, intelligent, professional woman- Jennifer. She will steal his heart and soul. By the way, I loved Grandma and her Yiddish sayings. In addition, I will never look at a breakfast of pancakes and sausages, with plenty of maple syrup, the same way again. They used an ENTIRE bottle of maple syrup and none of it on the pancakes! To me, that will remain the most memorable scene in a book!

Lucky for us all three parts of this trilogy are available in this box set so you can read the entire story altogether. I can proudly say I read all three parts in one day and loved it. I could not put it down!
