Book Synopsis

The Darkest Days are finally upon us and the Daughters of Eve shall rise again.

Jess sacrificed herself for the people she loved but she now has to pay the consequences for her actions because something dark is coming and it is heading straight for her. She really did not think her life could get any more complicated but when another tall dark stranger walks back into her life she realises she has a decision to make. All she wants is for everyone to leave her alone and let her live the life she thought she once had but things are getting out of control fast. The love she has for Reuban can only ground her for so long and her anger is beginning to spiral out of control. If she tells him how she really feels she could lose him forever or get him killed and that is a risk she could never forgive herself for.

The Council have accepted her for what she is but has she? There is a huge possibility everyone she loves is going to die if she stays, but if she walks away she will have to leave the love of her life behind and that would rip her soul apart.

The only way out is to work with the one person she hates more than anything in this world and that was going to take a lot of self-restraint if she was going to get through this nightmare without killing him.

Reuban can see the torment within Jess and it is breaking his heart. He would do anything to ease her pain even if it meant letting her walk away, destroying him in the process. His only hope is to seek guidance from Brigate and finally understand the true meaning of Megan's Prophecy. It started with a Prophecy and it is there he will find the truth and it is a secret that could tear the Council to pieces.

A fractured alliance will be formed again with a new generation of warriors and Jess is at its centre. The war is about to begin and a destiny will finally be fulfilled!

Death & Maria…

I stood staring through the glass partition when I saw that ginger Empath look up and storm in my direction. I rolled my eyes and sighed. Why did I always have to receive abuse from women? Civilisations had bowed down to me in fear and now I couldn’t even scare a stupid Empath!

“What the hell do you think you’re doin?” She was stood in my way with her hand on her hips and it was taking all of my self-control not to move her out of the way. Jess was obviously feeling elated because her wings were fully outstretched,

“I’M GOING TO SEE MY DAUGHTER, NOT THAT IT’S ANY OF YOUR BUSINESS!” I frowned,

“And you can cut that out right now!” And now the silly woman was pouting and tapping her foot. This will not do at all!

“DO YOU NOT KNOW WHO I AM YOU SILLY CREATURE?” I bellowed. That should have scared her but I watched in amazement when she looped her arm in mine and turned us around. I found myself looking over my shoulder at Jess kissing her wolf while I was being manhandled by a woman,

“Yadda, yadda, yadda, I know exactly who you are and if you call me a stupid ginger Empath once more I’m slapping your face. Oh and you can pack that stupid voice in as well. It doesn’t work on me when Jess does it and it sure as hell won’t work coming from Death, so you can just stop it!”

“HOW DARE YOU SPEAK…”

“Seriously! When was the last time you spoke normal? I’m betting you didn’t speak to Eve like that, in fact I bet you were all hearts and flowers before you knocked her up?” she interrupted. If she wasn’t careful I would judge her right here. How dare she speak to me in this manner!

“HOW…” Heavens above, she was interrupting me again! She stopped and stood in front of me placing her hand on my arm,

“Look cut the crap! I can feel how worried you are for Jess so be her father for once and not a ‘know it all’ celestial being. Her voice scares the shit out of her and I’m guessing you had a hand in saving her again so please try and be normal for her.”

“LOOK…” I coughed. I couldn’t believe a stupid ginger Empath was making me change my voice but here I was doing just that, “…she is my daughter and I couldn’t let her die so I helped her along a little. Not that it’s any of your business might I add!” I sighed,

“The name is Maria by the way, NOT the stupid ginger Empath! Jess is ok but she will need time to come to terms with the fact you’re here. When Eve died it destroyed her and she’s felt alone ever since. Deep down she doesn’t even hate you, she regrets not knowing you and so barging in there isn’t going to do you any good. I have no idea what you’re doing here because Jess isn’t ready and you have incredibly shit timing!” she pouted,

“I am here to protect my daughter from the approaching darkness and if I go back now Evelyn will have my balls!” I seemed to have an uncontrollable urge to talk to this woman and it was annoying.

“Excuse me, Evelyn?” she questioned looking puzzled. Of course, she wouldn’t know Evelyn was in the mists with me,

“Yes Evelyn, my wife and Jess’ mother. She would not be pleased if I simply ran back home without trying to help our daughter!” I scowled,

“Eve is with you?” she said astonished,

“Yes. Has anyone told you that you’re nosey for a crossbreed?” I said raising an eyebrow,

“But she died?”

“Yes indeed she did!” Maria was starting to try my patience,

“And you didn’t judge her?” Her voice was sounding an octave higher probably from the shock,

“It was not my place to!”

“Because she was your wife?”

“ENOUGH WITH THE QUESTIONS! EVELYN IS NOT YOUR CONCERN AND NEITHER IS JESS. IF YOU DO NOT STEP OUT OF MY WAY I WILL SMITE YOU!” I bellowed shacking the light fittings. I stood in absolute horror when the stupid ginger Empath started laughing,

“Oh...sorry…wait…can’t breathe…oh God…smite!” she snorted and I raised an eyebrow. It was no wonder Bunny and Jess liked this woman because she was insane,

“Will you stop laughing?” Even I was starting to smile,

“I swear if you call me a stupid ginger Empath once more…I mean it! You know Eve was my friend and it was my job to protect her. I’m now friends with Jess and if you think I’m gonna let you stroll in there and upset her after she’s been asleep for six weeks you really have another thing coming! You may be a scary Archangel but you’re also a father and it’s about time you stepped up to your responsibilities. I promise you that once she is a little more stable I will take great pleasure in introducing you but for now just let her have a little time with the man she loves, please.”

Blog Tour / The Storm and the Darkness by Sarah M Cradit

Title- The Storm and the Darkness
Series- The House of Crimson and Clover Book # 2
By-Sarah M. Cradit
Publication Date-July 6, 2013

Blurb

Ana Deschanel has made a terrible mistake. The only chance of protecting the other people involved is to flee New Orleans, the only home she has ever known, for the quiet solitude of Summer Island.

Summer Island, Maine (population 202) is not the tranquil escape Ana imagined. The locals are distant and cold, especially her neighbor, the reclusive veterinarian Jonathan St. Andrews. Her only lifeline is the kind but odd caretaker Alex Whitman. Showing up at all the right moments, he warns her she is completely unprepared for a Maine winter. As the first winter storm approaches to whispers of an island shutdown- Ana realizes that she may soon be cut off from the rest of the world.

After a surprising encounter with Jonathan’s brother, Finn, Ana finds herself braving the storm to return something to him. Unprepared for the Maine storm, she slips and falls onto the jagged rocks along the shore. The St. Andrews brothers find her in the nick of time, but she remains unconscious. As the storm worsens, the St. Andrews brothers learn there are other, more sinister forces at work closer than they ever imagined.

With no help from the outside world, they must find a way to protect themselves from both the storm, and the growing darkness that looms across the island.

Excerpt

Ana started up the gravel path leading to the Casco Bay Lighthouse. Every afternoon, she would take a walk. Every afternoon, when she reached the narrow hill leading up toward the lighthouse, she would keep walking, ending up instead near Edgewater's, and then back through downtown and home. Today, something compelled her to climb the hill and investigate.

Since the day Ana arrived, her interest was piqued by the old, crumbling structure. Despite its necessity, it seemed so out of place, jutting up awkwardly from the raised earth like it didn't belong. More, it did not look anything like she expected. Unlike the tall, graceful, white structures in the postcards, the Casco Bay Lighthouse was a shorter, squatter building painted with loud, but peeling, stripes of red and white. It reminded her of a clownish barber pole, forgotten and left to rot.

It was the highest point on the island, sitting atop Edgewater Point, the only hill on Summer Island. In addition to the hill, a man-made rock base raised the diminutive monolith even higher. It has to be high enough for mariners to see the light, Alex had said to her. Ana wondered how it looked from the sea.

Even from the bottom of the long, gravel hill, Ana could see the peeling paint and the broken railings at the top; the latter sent unexpected chills down her spine as she wondered how long the serrated, rusted bars had hung into the wind like that. They were dangling by what seemed like little more than a thread. They did not have the look of something that had been broken gently.

The cool breeze lapped at her face as she climbed higher. The path took her far above the shoreline, and she could see the many ships in the Atlantic. I bet one of those is Finn St. Andrews.

When Ana reached the top, the wind slowly died, and the base of the lighthouse came into full view. Up close, it looked even more derelict than it had from afar, the white stripes having faded to a dull gray. The red, in contrast, was bright as fresh blood. Around the base was a sloppily placed cyclone fence with barbed wire at the top, and signs posted around it stating: KEEP OUT, and PRIVATE PROPERTY. The weeds and vines, curling and twisting up and around the bottom few feet of the lighthouse base, left her with the distinct impression that the building was not just private, but abandoned.

Graffiti, angled along the graying stripes, shouted: DESTROY HERON HALLOWS and JESUS LOVES CARLA. Neither of those things meant anything to Ana, but she made a mental note to ask Alex later. He would know.

Ana caught a glimpse, in her peripheral vision, of what looked like grave markers. Upon closer inspection, they were the simple, white crosses that were common along highways, marking the death of a beloved family member. Yet...there were four of them, like a small, private cemetery. She knelt down in the gravel and read their names: Carla Edgewater. Lionel Shepherd. Sandra Finnerty. Emily Caldwell.

“What the hell?” She whispered. That explained who Carla was, sort of. Did they all die here?

Ana stepped back, and her foot slipped in the gravel, nearly sending her over the sea cliff. Heart racing, she righted herself, wondering how she hadn't noticed her proximity to the edge. She could see jagged cuts into the rock, indicating that there had once been more land between the lighthouse and the serrated merger of water and land below. Looking down at the outcropping of rocks amongst the waves, she realized how high she had climbed. It had looked so close from the bottom.

Backing away, Ana looked out at the ocean again, noticing that the ships were all making their way back toward their respective ports. The goose bumps rose on her arms, as wind picked back up. Moments later, the rain started, quickly increasing in intensity. Within minutes, she was drenched.

Ana pulled her heavy coat tight around her. She turned to make her way back home when she backed into something firm, startling her. Strong arms quickly righted her. She gasped, jumping.

"Tis just me," Alex's comforting voice sang behind her. "Poor dear, let's get ya out of this rain!" Before she could say anything, he motioned for her to follow, and he jogged toward the rear of the lighthouse.

As he entered through a hole in the fence, Ana wondered, Are we actually going inside? He can't be serious. Then Alex did enter, and Ana, soaked to the bone and shivering, could do nothing but follow.

Alex flipped a large switch on the wall and the room lit up in a dull, ambient light. The lighthouse was much smaller inside than out, and the only sign of ongoing activity was the small wooden desk in the corner strewn with paperwork. Next to the desk was a space heater, sitting on the exposed cement floor. Aside from those few objects, the circular room was completely bare.

As Alex turned on the heater, Ana rushed over and knelt before it, soaking up the heat.

"There ya go," Alex said, soothingly. He patted her on the head. "You'll be right as rain in no time." He chuckled at his joke.

"What are you doing up here?" Ana asked, through clattering teeth. "I suppose that sounded ungrateful. Thank you for rescuing me." She was shocked at how quickly she could get cold here, compared with how long it took to warm up. This is definitely not New Orleans.

"Why, I work here," Alex replied, with a note of pride in his voice. "Did I not tell ya?"

Ana shook her head.

"Ya. Took over the care on this place about, oh, two years ago now. 'Fore that, it was closed fer about ten years." Ana noted that he made no move toward the heater. His jacket was only damp compared to hers, which looked as if she had taken a dip in the Atlantic. She deduced there must be a road leading up the hill, for she hadn't spotted anyone on the path when she arrived.

"Does it work?" Ana asked.

"Most certainly," Alex said. "It never stopped workin’.”

"Then why was it closed?"

"I don't s'pose ya noticed the crosses out front?" He asked. He was looking out the sole, round window, gazing in the direction of the sea.

"Sort of hard to miss four of them," Ana responded, feeling the overwhelming urge to cross herself. "Did they die here? At the lighthouse?"

Alex walked over and pulled the chair out, settling it in front of the heater. He motioned for Ana to sit down. He wore a sad look of resignation, but she could see he was going to answer her question with a story. She had come to enjoy, and even welcome, Alex's stories, though this one was unlikely to have a happy ending.

Character Bios:

Anasofiya Deschanel (30)- Ana is aloof, withdrawn, and considered by some even to be cold. In reality, she lacks the ability to connect with others in any meaningful way, with the exception of her cousin and lifelong confidante Nicolas. After she makes a terrible mistake in New Orleans, she flees for Maine in an attempt to protect everyone involved. For the first time in her life, she has kept something from Nicolas, who suspects that she is not being completely forthright about her reasons for leaving.

Nicolas Deschanel (30)- The cocky, brash, f-bomb loving cousin of Ana. He is single, with no intentions of changing that, instead enjoying the company of a different woman every night. Being the son of the late and venerable Charles Deschanel, his incomparable wealth allows him to live any lifestyle he wants. The truth, though, is that Nicolas has never found anything interesting enough to occupy his time. Nothing that gives his life meaning.

Jonathan St. Andrews (32)- Jon is the oldest St. Andrews brother. He is the reclusive, and sometimes rude, veterinarian of the small community of Summer Island. Showing an aptitude for medicine, like his father, in his youth, he instead abandoned it for veterinary medicine. He is very wary of Ana’s arrival on the island, afraid he might have to interact with her as her neighbor. Truthfully, though, Jon senses a similar darkness in Ana that scares him.

Finnegan St. Andrews (27)- The younger St. Andrews brother, Finn is easy and carefree, the opposite of his brother Jon. He spends his days on his boat, supplying lobster to many of the local Maine communities. Unlike Jon, he is immediately intrigued by Ana, whom he sees is not like the other girls he’s been with. Where Jon seeks to push her away, Finn is eager to get to know her.

Colin “Oz” Sullivan (30)- Kind, sensitive, thoughtful. Oz is connected through the Deschanels both through his lifelong friendship with Nicolas, but also his marriage to Nicolas’ younger sister, Adrienne.

Alex Whitman (50s)- The odd, middle-aged caretaker of Ana’s home. Very little is known about Alex’s personal life, except for the fact that his parents were brutally murdered when he was a child. Theirs are one of several unsolved murders on this small island.

Augustus Deschanel (60s)- The sharp, clever businessman father of Ana. He built his media empire out of nearly nothing, despite having the Deschanel resources at his disposal. His wife, and Ana’s mother, Catherine, died giving birth to Ana. Catherine was the only woman he ever felt a passion for, and his second marriage, to a woman named Barbara, was sought for more practical reasons. Augustus is not comfortable in expression, and so his relationship with Ana is often strained.

The House of Crimson and Clover Series

The House of Crimson and Clover series follows the lives of two New Orleans families: the august and mysterious Sullivans and Deschanels. The Sullivans, a family of hard-working Irish lawyers, have come from nothing and built a life they can be proud of. The Deschanels, a moderately wealthy family who became extremely wealthy by siding with the North during the Civil War, betraying their people. Both families have a dark and rich history, full of secrets, and full of surprises.

The books in this series unravel the stories of both the individuals as well as the families themselves, discovering the ways these families and their secrets intersect, and each story pulls us even farther into their stories.

While the series is meant to be treated as one long narrative, each book can stand-alone and be enjoyed without having read the other books.

Review | Lord of Misrule (The Morganville Vampires, Book 5) by Rachel Caine

Blurb

In the college town of Morganville, vampires and humans coexist in (relatively) bloodless harmony. Then comes Bishop, the master vampire who threatens to abolish all order, revive the forces of the evil dead, and let chaos rule. But Bishop isn't the only threat.

Violent black cyclone clouds hover, promising a storm of devastating proportions as student Claire Danvers and her friends prepare to defend Morganville against elements both natural and unnatural.

 Review

Mr. Bishop's character comes out even more, so much so that the whole town is in chaos now.  I loved this book.  I am still trying to compare this series to others out there in the written world of vampires.  Nothing comes to mind...  There is just so much uniqueness with this series that I love all 5 books I've read so far!

Once again Claire has her work cut out for her, working with Amelie's scientist to keep the town's people within the town and others coming through out.  The focus is now not on only Mr. Bishop but this evil that has now taken up residence in Morganville while vampires are disappearing and the chaos continues. Will Claire and her friends survive?  Will the vampires and humans once again come together to fight what is destroying the town they live in?  Moving on to the next book in this series as soon as I can get my fingers on Carpe Corpus...

Sexy and arrogant investigative reporter Vince Knight lives dangerously. In fact, he craves danger and trouble always finds him. When he goes in search of a missing artifact, he finds a priceless gem—a woman he can’t have. Or can he?

Art historian Jade Fitzgerald can tell a fake from a mile away. Fake artifacts, that is. But the smoldering attraction between her and Vince is definitely the real deal. So when he asks her to give him one night, Jade is intrigued. Little does she know Vince is playing for keeps, pulling her deeper into his dangerous world.

A missing artifact brings them together. Something more powerful will make them stay.

Teaser

Jade eased her car into an empty parking space outside the Palace and switched off the engine. A groan escaped her when she saw the time. Three minutes late and counting. That was what she got for taking a little extra time to deck her body and paint herself like a geisha. Granted she had a party to go to after their meeting. Still, to make Vince Knight choke on his words would be an added bonus.
I haven’t changed, my butt.
She tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear and studied her face in the rear view mirror. The subtle makeup and pinned-up hair with a few tendrils framing her face couldn’t be labeled overkill. She tilted the mirror to check the enticing valley created by the black bustier she’d worn under her matching spaghetti-strapped dress. Now, that sight could be classified as a look-and-drool display.
Jade picked up her black purse and sheer shawl then stepped out of her car and locked it. She smoothed the silk dress down over her hips. A chuckle escaped her. Her behind had its own agenda and continued to resist any attempts to slim it down, but she was learning to live with it.
Jade took several steps, glanced down and grimaced. Six-inches of pure hell. She was a sucker for beautiful shoes, but the look on Vince’s face when he saw her in them would be worth it.
Two men exited the hotel as she approached the entrance and froze upon seeing her, their eyes wide with appreciation. Their drawn out, “damn” brought a quick smile to her lips. That was all the encouragement she needed to work the black drop-waist dress with asymmetrical hem.
Her senses thrummed with anticipation as she glided through the hotel doors. Jade gave the busy foyer a sweeping glance. When her gaze locked on Vince, her heart started a rickety shuffle and her stomach tilted.
This was bad. She wasn’t within sniffing distance of the man and her body was already betraying her. Even in plain jeans and a T-shirt, he stood out. She studied his tall, built body as he leaned against the front desk. His tanned skin contrasted with his white T-shirt in an attractive way, his teeth flashing as he spoke with one of the managers.
It wasn’t fair. He wasn’t even her type. She avoided the silent, brooding, emotionally unavailable types like the plague. They were too difficult to understand, and were too complicated. On the other hand, what had an outgoing man gotten her? A bad marriage and doubts about her sensuality.
As though he felt her gaze on him, Vince turned.
She stopped breathing, a stupid thing to do. He gave her a slow appraisal, his gaze lingering on her chest before colliding with her eyes.
The expression on his face? Cool. Unimpressed.
Air left her lungs in an unsteady rush. She twisted her lips into what she hoped resembled a smile as she started across the room. All that time spent putting her war paint on, wasted. How could he maintain that stone-cold soberness all the time? Vince had to be made of ice, and served her right for trying to get a rise out of him.
Maybe that was the problem. His rigid control and aloofness made her want to do or say something to rattle his cage. His lack of interest in her was a definite challenge. Maybe there was some truth to the lure of the unattainable. Vince Knight, without trying, fascinated her.
Vince approached with the loose-hipped predatory stride of a jungle cat, sending a whoosh of anticipation through her. Feeling a little light-headed, Jade hoped she didn’t totter on her stilettos.
“Sorry, I’m late,” she said, hating the breathlessness in her voice.
“No problem. You’re here now.” He gave her another cool once-over without making a comment and lifted a duffel bag she didn’t notice he was carrying. “I need to show you something.”
Her gaze moved from the bag to his face. “What is it?
“Let’s find a place to sit first.” His dark gaze swept the foyer as though cataloguing faces. She wasn’t sure whether it was caution or paranoia.
She trailed his gaze. “Is everything okay?”
“No.”
The calm way he said it sent a chill up her spine. She opened her mouth to ask him what was wrong, reconsidered, and closed it. She’d better get this meeting over with and leave.
Jade allowed him to take her arm and direct her toward the Feng Shui restaurant and lobby. His hand played havoc with her senses. She felt warmth all the way to her bones. A group of women coming toward them propelled her closer to him until only a few inches separated them. The heat from his body seeped into her skin, making her shiver. His scent, musk and spearmint, slammed into her. Her mind went foggy.
“Do you live here in L.A.?” she asked to stop herself from doing something stupid like burying her nose in the hollow of his neck.
“No, Orcas Island. I’m only here to find the statue, then I’m heading right back.”
He was so sure he would find it. Such confidence was daunting, and she had to admit, a turn-on. They walked past a poster with ‘ISWS-International Society of Women Scientists’ printed on it. “How long have you been in town?”
“Five days. Why?”
“Just wondering.” Keep him talking. Maybe then she’d turn off the faucet on the raw sexual longing sneaking up on her. “Who have you spoken with? Where have you looked? Stolen artifacts are moved so fast that….”
Her voice trailed off when he stopped. He looked down at her and she blinked. The man’s penetrating eyes seemed to see right through her outer trappings and straight to the real her—a women rebuilding her life after a humiliating marriage. She swallowed her irritation and copped an attitude. “What?”
“Can we sit down first before you start questioning me?”
“We only have thirty minutes, remember?” Not that she had any intention of leaving until all her questions were answered.
His gaze slid across her face and dropped to her breasts. “A lot can be accomplished in thirty minutes.”
Heat crawled up her neck, flaming her cheeks and ears. The rotten scoundrel. If she was bold enough, she would have given him a thorough meat-market perusal and lingered on his fly. Rule Number Five in Get Some Kick-Ass Attitude—if you can’t take action, say it.
“Especially when a person knows what she likes and how she likes it,” she answered and his gaze snapped back to hers. “Much better. I wasn’t sure whether you were talking to me, or my girls here.” She pointed at her chest.
No reaction. Not even a flicker of irritation or amusement. She was impressed. In high school, he’d been a charmer. His smile alone would coax girls into the backseat of his car. What happened? Who stole his smile?

Making True Connections

I recently made the acquaintance of another Avon Impulse author who was new to social media. On our Avon Impulse Super-Secret Facebook page, she introduced herself and asked the rest of us some marketing questions.

Being a newb myself to marketing, I told her the one thing I knew for sure worked (and it had taken me nine months to learn). We have a powerful tool, and it isn’t solely Twitter (what the heck is a hashtag?), or pouring over Facebook, or pinning pictures for hours (seriously Pinterest, you possessed me!) nor Tumbling with the best of them. I have found my favorite platforms, but the best tool to get the word out is…well, other authors, readers, and bloggers. I told her to USE US! Post something and we will Retweet, Share, Pin, whatever she needed. That’s the most amazing thing I’ve learned about the world of writing: other authors DO want to help. We have this big, literary family that will band together to spread the word, no matter if you’re traditional or indie published!

At least, that’s how it’s been for me. From other established Avon authors, to the bloggers they introduced me to, and the readers, writers, and other bloggers they knew. On and on it went until I had this incredible group of women: authors from different publishers and readers who just have awesome taste in shows and books, who helped share in my joys and triumphs, because I shared in theirs too.

THAT is the best advice I can give any new authors: get to know people. Find out their interests, read their books, and see if you mesh. It is important to have a support system during this crazy process of writing, blogging, editing, and waiting…waiting for that email that gives you the green light on your next project. Cause once that happens, the hard part really begins. You will spend months pouring over that project, editing it until your hands cramp, and crying pathetically when you get stuck. Making TRUE connections can help you not only spread the word about your books…but can bring a new kind of joy as you become a part of a community.

Blurb

Good girls don't steal.Good girls don't visit sex shops.
Good girls don't have one-night stands.

For Katie Conners, being a good girl just isn't worth it anymore. It used to mean getting the life she always wanted. But that was before she got dumped and her ex got engaged to his rebound. So, after a bad day and one too many mojitos, Katie starts making a list of things a girl like her would never do, not in a million years . . .

As a tattoo artist with a monster motorcycle, Chase Trepasso isn't the kind of guy you bring home to mom and dad.

And when he finds Katie's list in a bar, he's more than happy to help her check off a few items. Especially the ones on the naughtier side . . .

Katie's more than tempted by Chase's offer, as long as they keep things uncomplicated. But as they spend more time together, she may just wind up breaking the most important rule of all: Good girls don't fall in love with bad boys.

Review:

Talisman is book #2 in The Amulet Prophecy Series by Holly Zitting. Even though I haven't read all of book #1 yet, only the sample story, I knew right away it was going to be an awesome book. By reading it, I was still able to figure out what was going on in book #2. I really enjoyed reading Talisman. It is a fantastic book that is very interesting and it had my attention from the very beginning.

Emma is a high school girl who is about to turn eighteen. She has been in danger ever since she found out that she was the center of an ancient Prophecy. Simon, a handsome young man, was sent to protect her. Since the day they met, their feelings for each other had grown and now they are in a serious relationship. Through out her ordeal, he has been by her side, watching and protecting her and her family.

Emma had this feeling that she was being watched and it scared her so she called Simon. Once she was in Simon’s arms, she felt better and safe. Emma is still having a hard time with what is happening in her life. Will she able to get through this and keep her family safe?

Their journey together continues. Simon has been called away and told Emma to stay home. She doesn’t listen and decides she needs some time to be alone and think. She leaves to go to her favorite spot and while there, she finds herself in trouble and something bad happens to her. Will Simon be able to get there in time to save Emma?

As I was reading, I felt like I was with them on this journey. I could also feel Emma’s emotions about her situation and how she will be able to keep her family safe.

Holly Zitting has done an amazing job writing this book. I am definitely going to purchase The Amulet, book #1 in the series and finish reading the other half of it. Wishing Well, book #3 has just been released so I am looking forward to reading it too. I recommend my friends to read book #1 first before reading the Talisman.

I give this book 5 Dandy's!!

Author Bio:

“I have been writing for as long as I can remember. I have been writing in the wee hours of the night when my 6 kids were all babies. With my last one I was inspired by the Red Rock Mountains in Southern Utah. I started writing and my 12 year old (at the time) found it. She wrote on the bottom ‘FINISH IT!!!’ Every day I would write more and she would repeat it.

It became The Amulet

I am currently living and loving Oregon. I have 6 kids and a wonderful husband of 16 years. I hope you will love my stories as much as I do!” –Holly Zitting
