It starts with a stolen kiss under an English sky, and it ends with a walk down the aisle. It starts with the President sending his best friend to woo me on his behalf, and it ends with my heart split in two. It starts with buried secrets and dangerous desires…and ends with the three of us bound together with a hateful love sharper than any barbed wire.
My name is Greer Galloway, and I serve at the pleasure of the President of the United States. This is the story of an American Queen.
What a love story! Do not be misguided into thinking this book is about politics. At this point, I am sure we all want to get passed election day and forget about politics. This book is about a secret kiss, an undeniable attraction and obsession, a coming to terms with your own sexuality, and a love that is durable.
Sierra Simone's writing style is direct but with its own flair. I felt part of the story and closely related to the characters' thought process. These characters are real people that spring off the page with their doubts and flaws. This author has been able to put into words real human experiences and reactions.
I read this in one sitting and could not put it down. This book is part 1 of a trilogy, so be forewarned this story will continue. I can hardly wait to read the next installment.
(For those of you with a love of English Literature, this is a contemporary version of the Arthurian Legend... not the Camelot musical or the Disney-ish version of the legend. For ages, it has been debated what the relationship between Arthur, Lancelot, and Guinevere was like. As an aficionado of the legend, I can assure you our author has come very close to what scholars have debated for years regarding this love triangle and its consequences.)
