River Freeman is still heartbroken long after the man she thought was her one true love mysteriously walked out of her life. Deep down, she knows she’s not over him. She does her best to distract herself from her pain by focusing on paying her bills and finishing her associates degree.

Rugged and enigmatic Drakken Skalakova fills the jagged hole in his heart with money, power, and the affection of every woman who lays eyes on him. He’s visiting the U.S. for one year to oversee a top secret billion dollar business deal. The last thing he wants is a meaningful relationship.

When Drakken and River’s paths crash together, they can’t deny their intense mutual attraction. They both crave the blissful distraction of down and dirty sex.

Neither of them are looking for love.
They both know love hurts too much.

But a lot can happen in one year.

In usual Devon Hartford fashion, you will find this book not only full of love's complexities, but also very amusing. Our author has a way with words and knows how present dialogue fitting to each of his characters' personalities.

I found River young and innocent. Although she is very independent, she also is a young woman recovering from a horrible break-up with ex douchebag boyfriend. She is so vulnerable and lonely, you cannot help but feel for her. As she tries to move on with her life, she struggles to find a way to put her past lover behind and heal her heart. Her internal dialogue will keep in stitches, as she plainly discusses with herself, the options and emotions that encumber her life.

Drakken is a troubled man to say the least. He is a man of mystery and impressive physical attributes. Call it what you want, but when you read about the first massage session between River and Drakken you will remember my words. AMAZING! GIGGLE CITY! You will feel like a teenager again and blush!

This is only Part One. Cannot wait to discover what mishaps our author has in mind for our unsuspecting twosome.

About the Author Devon Hartford

A lot of people ask me, "Why is a guy writing romance novels for women?" The answer is simple. Everyone falls in love. Even men. Imagine that. ;-)

But it goes deeper than that. I write romance to explore and understand my own emotions.

No matter what most guys say on the subject, emotions are a part of the human experience for women AND men. Guys who deny their emotions, especially the difficult ones like sadness, grief, loss, and hurt, are missing out on a big part of life. Everyone has emotional scars. It's impossible to make it from cradle to grave without getting banged up along the way. For all that pain, we can also heal ourselves.

My stories feature characters who are on a quest to heal their pain, and in the process, find love. We all know that a loving relationship can be a conduit for both partners to heal together. When that happens, it's truly a beautiful thing.

It's my hope that my readers can gain some perspective regarding their own emotional wounds, and perhaps heal in some small way by going through the emotional journey I went through while writing my stories.
