This review if for both Surviving Brooklyn and Brooklyn's Survival.  I received a copy from the author in exchange for my honest review.

I am very impressed with the effort and writing style to produce a truly suspenseful romance story.  Our main character is a strong, independent woman who is both smart and savvy in the nuances of the crime world.  Having an ex-Russian mobster for her father proved to be very useful and life-saving.

Her crush on her life-long friend Mark is the running undercurrent in both these books.  This is a bond she made with him that cannot be broken.  After so much loss of loved ones in both Mark's and her life, treading carefully before jumping into a relationship is warranted.

These books have both a 5-star potential.  I must explain why only a 4 star.  I reacted to the suddenly erotica-styled scenes in the middle of a suspense plot that had a rhythm of its own.  Maybe it was the shock factor...  and if you follow my reviews you know I love all genres of romance including Erotica.  In this case, though, it changed the mood of the plot for me.  I think that if I had had some indication to anticipate this turn of events I would have reacted differently.  It was too much of a shock to suddenly be reading these scenes and I felt a betrayal to the love Brooklyn had professed for Mark.

Nonetheless, this is a great story!  Just my honest opinion.  I leave this up to the reader to experience this story.  Would love to hear what your opinion is!
