Something Real ( Reckless & Real #2) by Lexi Ryan Review Tour

Something Real
( Reckless & Real #2)

Review Tour

Adult Contemporary
Release: March 3, 2015

After everything blew up on Christmas, Liz walked away from me, and I let her. She said she needed space and a chance to pursue her dreams. But we both knew she was running from the mess she made. Now the political campaign she used as an excuse to leave is bringing us back together and I’m proving to her what she really needs—not just the hot nights, greedy hands, and undeniable physical chemistry. What she really needs is something real. What she really needs…is me.

Sam and Liz have been through so much... After that Christmas fight and heartbreak, they broke up and have not talked to each other. They are both coming apart at the seams! They love each other, but all these obstacles, secrets, and impending disasters have driven them apart and it is impossible to see a way for them to end up together.

When I read the beginning of this book I knew there was no way these two could get together. Leave it to our author Lexi Ryan to devise a plot line that would take me through all the emotions possible, plus the thrill of a mystery to solve. Typical of this author, right? She writes some of the smartest books I have read, but with the draw of a passionate romantic story with the right " bells and whistles".

Sam... what can I say about Sam? He is confused, jealous, vulnerable, lost without the right guidance of a male parental figure. His father's thirst for politics has rendered this family adrift in the minutia of politics. Appearances are all that counts. The truth is bendable or rewritable according to the need to win at all cost. In the end, Sam must stand on his own two feet and grow to be his own man. At some point, he must look out for what is important and disregard the pressures of the politics surrounding him.

Liz is my hero. She grows from a lost girl searching for love in all the wrong places. She comes to her own strength and realization that some loves are worth hurting for.

Something Reckless
Reckless & Real #1

Adult Contemporary Romance
Release: December 22, 2014

He talks dirty to me, but I don’t know his name.
He wants to tie me up, but I don’t know his face.
He turns me on, but I couldn’t point him out in a crowd.
I’ve fallen for an anonymous stranger, and tonight the anonymity ends. Tonight I want more than typed secrets and texted promises. I want something reckless. Heat. Passion. The thrill of being entirely possessed.
Because I suspect this anonymous stranger isn’t a stranger at all.
Lizzy Thompson met riverrat69 online through Something Real, a service promising to deliver meaningful relationships by forbidding its users to share names or photos until they’ve reached a certain benchmark. She was looking for love. He was researching an investment. They hit it off. Talked and flirted, hid behind screen names and cartoon avatars.
Now they’re breaking the rules and meeting in person. But Liz is prepared. She’s picked up hints and followed clues.
She’s ninety-percent convinced she’s discovered the identity of her dirty-talking online friend.
She wonders if her ex-lover Sam Bradshaw knows her identity too.
When she rolls the dice on one reckless night, her chance at something real could crumble.

Liz and Sam seem only to connect once a year and just in passing. They both have feelings for each other. He is scared to death of commitment; she is scared he will definitely break her heart.

Out of loneliness, Liz joins an online "get acquainted" site. It is different from the other sites - no pictures are allowed, people are supposed to write to each other and get to know one another online and they must hit a certain benchmark before agreeing to meet. This new site is being tested in New Hope where Liz lives, so she figures anyone on the site is probably someone she knows and is using an online nickname.

Well online friendships can lead an unsuspecting soul to trouble. Not the serial killer type, but the type where you might really know the person, but they are not what they seem online. A love affair started in this manner is bound to lead to trouble.

Liz has made her share of mistakes... and she does not seem to stop making them. There are secrets, hidden agendas, stress and pressure from parents, and finally when we think Sam and Liz are going to get together... but wait! You really need to read this. I was blown away!

These girls from New Hope surely know how to get in trouble. If you are a fan of Lexi Ryan's books, you they are well written, and she always has these masterful plot twists you never saw coming. Well, hold on to your sanity... she has done it again. I actually went back through the clues she gives and yes I could not find fault with any of them. Still, at the end, I found myself saying " I never saw that coming!"

Mark your calendars! Beginning of March 2015 is when the conclusion to this story is slated for publishing. I will continue to twiddle my thumbs patiently until then... in DESPERATION! I cannot figure out how she is ever going to reach a happily ever after with all that is going on!

About the Author
Once a college English professor, I now write full time. I live in rural Indiana, where, when
I’m not writing, I get to hang out with my husband and two kids--a six-year-old boy and
a two-year-old hellion, er, girl. Not surprisingly, reading and writing remain my favorite
activities, though both come in bits and pieces these days, not the big hunks of time I enjoyed before I had children. When I’m feeling virtuous, I like to go running (I use that word liberally. I’m really, really slow) or do yoga. Don’t worry, I’m always careful to balance out such activities with a hearty serving of ice cream or a chocolate martini.
