Quinn and James' Story Continues in Chasing Me...
It was supposed to be a love story....
I knew she was out of my league but I didn’t care. Looking back, I wonder if I hadn’t pursued her, would things have turned out differently? Is it Fate that determines our choices in life? God? Free will? Or just plain old innate selfishness?
I got her, of course. There hadn’t been a girl I wasn’t able to seduce. Problem was she seduced me right back, body, mind, and soul. She possessed me, tormented me, and showed me a world that was so bright and pure I was almost blinded.
Didn’t she know after such a drug I could never settle for less? Didn’t she realize no matter how many times I screwed up, or broke her heart, or bent her to my will, I’d never be able to let her go?
If I hadn’t known such intensity existed, would it have been better for both of us?
True love, the real kind, isn’t nice and sweet and pure. No, it’s dirty, and sinful, and messy. It’s like ripping a chunk of flesh from your body and watching yourself bleed out in slow, helpless intervals until you thankfully pass out.
This isn’t a love story. But it’s the only story I got.

 James:

“What’s wrong?”
I shook off my thoughts and glanced at her. She frowned, skating backwards like a pro. “Nothing.”
“You’re lying. When you get upset about something, you purse your lips and your right brow lifts up.”
I blinked. “You gotta be kidding me. I don’t do that shit.” I felt my damn right brow begin to twitch and noticed my lips felt funny. Great. The woman knew way too much about me. “Are you some kind of witch?”
“I just love you.”
And with those words, she nailed me good. No one had ever loved me the way Quinn did. Not with such an honest, raw passion and need that made me drunk and giddy.
“You deserve more,” I burst out. I stopped skating and swept my hand through the air. “We started off with yachts and mansions on the beach. Now, look at what I’ve given you. Pizza and a walk in the park in the middle of fucking winter. I’m exactly what my parents always told me. A loser. You should be with a guy who can give you everything you desire.”
I waited for Quinn’s soft words and defense of my sad state. Instead, the breath whooshed out of me as she took both hands and shoved me full force, so I tumbled back onto the hard ice. I stared up at her, shocked, my ass on fire. “What the hell?” I yelled.
Her dark eyes shot flames. “You’re such an asshole!” Her foot, clad in her skate, actually thumped the ice as if she were stamping the ground. “How dare you insult both of us with those lame, whiny statements! I don’t need stuff. Sure, falling in love with you in Key West was amazing, but do you really think it had anything to do with your fancy house or boat or wallet? Actually, I fell for you in spite of your money. I just want you. The real you, not the guy who hung with his asshole friends, or the boy his parents ignored. I want the passionate, funny, sexy artist who’s real with me. Now you got me mad. I better skate it off.”
She spun in pure disgust and took off. I lay on the cold ground, staring at the empty space in front of me, while the crowds parted and glanced down to make sure I was okay. Then I began to laugh.
Damn, she was hot. Especially when she got angry. All that quiet energy whipped to the surface and gave off crazy vibes of sex. She saw something inside me I always wanted to believe in, but rarely did, and Quinn never allowed me to doubt. Maybe she was right. Because if she saw all that inside me, there must be something worth fighting for.

James and Quinn's story now continues in Chicago. The idyllic atmosphere of Key West is replaced with the reality of earning a living, studying and dealing with the problems of every day life. Their love is still strong and growing. That primal attraction continues to electrify them and their passion knows no bounds.

With reality come insecurities. James is dealing as best he can with the changes he must make in order to pursue a more normal life. He has not touched hi trust fund, which means he is struggling like everyone else to make ends meet. This is totally contrary to the live he has known. It is quite an adjustment to work in a cafe as barista, deal with working with his hands preparing coffee for the students. He stays true to his dream of fame and fortune and deals with long hours at work in order to make a living.

This story is so emotional. Both Quinn and James are now growing up and fighting for the dreams they have. There are obstacles, temptation, and the negative attitude of parents and advisers. To the world, they appear to be too young to take such a risk with each other. To them, they need each other like they need the oxygen they breathe.

Jennifer Probst has given us here a story of true love. She describes the struggles of these two young characters with such realism, you will not be able to stop thinking about your own life and how you accomplished your dreams. This is also a story of determination and moral strength I would not hesitate to recommend to all over the age of 18.
