Irons (Norfolk #1) by M.J. Fields | Tour, Giveaway and Review

 Irons (Norfolk #1)

by M.J. Fields

Lieutenant Jaxson Irons is third generation Naval officer. He was born and bred for the life he was living. He's a helicopter pilot and damn proud of it.

Jaxon doesn’t have attachment to the many women he has shared his nights with. He knows his place within his family and is the only child to parents who expect perfection and strength. He is expected to follow in his father’s footsteps and he does. Hugs are a foreign concept in the Irons family and emotional connections are too. Jaxsons father is preparing to throw his hat into the political ring. This was the family focus and priority since his recent retirement from the Navy.

When Jaxsons, best friend William Cruz, dies, he loses the person he is closest to and a family who has been a constant presence in his life, unlike his own. William’s younger sister, Frankie, tells Jaxon after the funeral that she wanted him to remain in her family’s life. Jaxson knows he can’t do that it would be too painful. To spare her feelings Jaxon leads her to believe he will. Before he jumps on his Harley to head to a forced transfer to Pensacola, she kisses him and admits to him that she wants him for more than a replacement older brother.

Jaxson avoids her for over a year. When he returns to Norfolk fate intervenes and they see each other again. She is no longer the little girl he remembers, but the young woman who has been haunting his dreams.

After a night together he learns that she has been dying inside not only grieving her brother’s death but the loss of Jaxson. He also gets a glimpse at the darkness inside of her. One she doesn’t want to let go of. One he doesn’t know if he can accept from a girl who he once thought of as his best friends little sister.

Jaxson and Frankie’s connection eventually grows deeper. They find that their attraction for one another may have been forged by the loss of Will. Together they begin to heal as their attraction grows into fiery desire nothing can stop.

I was so excited to read this new book by our author MJ Fields! Just as with her other works, she is giving us a unique story full of passion, good humor, and unforgettable characters.

Jax was born in a craddle where politics and good breeding rules the day. All his life, he was raised to aspire for higher office. Currently in the Navy as a helicopter pilot, he is not prepared for the complications his life is about to encounter but is ready to meet the challenge.

His love for Frankie is going to be tested. Together, they are so right for each other. In politics though, all the emotions of true love do not count. There are forces out there who will do anything to prevent Jax from pursuing his love affair with Frankie.

As in all of our author's other books, the language is raw and real. These characters are alive on these pages. This is what makes reading her books so dear and enjoyable.

About the Author
MJ Fields had no clue what she was getting into when she began the journey of writing. She say's, "I still don't--but I like it!"

Her imagination became apparent at age three. Sigma was her very first (imaginary) boyfriend. He lived about fifteen miles from her family's farm. She took him chicken noodle soup every night on one of their snowmobiles.(Summer, Fall, Winter, and Spring). Apparently he was very ill and "Thank God" she was able to take care of him.

At eight her love for writing blossomed. Together with her cousins (of course she was the president) they wrote a newsletter and sold it to their family members.

Years later she decided to put it back into print to entertain her cousin as she was on an aircraft carrier on 9/11, very far away from home during a scary time for our country.

Fast forward to 2012. She read 50 Shades and thought, 'I wanna do that!' (meaning writing).

She has two complete series, The Love Series and Wrapped. There are also two new series Burning Souls and Men of Steel that are as of now not complete. Thirteen books in sixteen months. CrAzY and wonderful.

She loves love!

Her Mom raised her right. She says please and thank you and means it. She expects the same out of her child. 'It's the right thing to do.'

Her mother taught her to take care of herself and others. 'I don't like leaving the house without mascara even if I'm in an oversized hoody and warm up pants.'

Her Dad taught her how to work hard and never expect to be handed anything. She likes to work and doesn't mind getting dirty.

Both taught her to be respectful and the importance of doing the right thing regardless of what people around her do. They taught her about the importance of family and that it didn't always just include blood relatives. They also tried to teach her how to keep my thoughts to myself...she is still working on that.

MJ tends to enjoy watching people grow and change with self realization and moments of clarity that just sneak up behind you and smack you in the head.

She loves people and has always been able to see both sides of a story. 'Each person that comes into our life leaves us with something it is what we choose to do with it that helps us grow.'

She lives in central New York in the middle of nowhere and is surrounded by family and friend most the time. She ran a small business out of her home and has recently closed her door to pursue this dream full time. She spends time writing and doing the typical Mommy things. Her house is full of pets, friends, and noise ninety percent of the time, and she would have it no other way.
