New Release Blog Tour and Review of Searching for Perfect by Jennifer Probst

Title: Searching for Perfect (Searching For #2)
Author: Jennifer Probst
Genre: Adult Contemporary Romance
Length: 352 pages
Release Date: April 29, 2014

The up-and-coming matchmaking agency Kinnections is the hottest thing to hit Verily, New York—just like Kennedy Ashe, social director for the service she owns with her two best girlfriends. A coach, consultant, and cheerleader rolled into one super-sizzling package, Kennedy creates dream dates, encourages singles to shine, and never refuses a challenge—not even Nate Ellison Raymond Dunkle, rocket scientist, nerd extraordinaire, and Kennedy’s newest client.

Kennedy vows to work her magic and transform this hot mess in a lab coat with a disastrous relationship track record into the most wanted man on the Verily dating scene. If only she could turn the wand on herself . . .

Though she radiates confidence and sex appeal, Kennedy harbors deep-seated insecurities from a tormented past and lifelong struggle with weight issues. When she realizes she and Nate are cut from the same cloth and might be perfect together, can Kennedy learn to let her heart lead the way? Or will her fears sentence her to the sidelines as Nate finds love—with someone else?

Once again, Jennifer Probst entices us with a story using that little Book of Love Spells. Beware the unsuspecting who dare proceed with this love spell. They are in for a ride!

The girls at Kinnections are on the up swing with their business. Their stats are proving them masters at matchmaking. Until Nathan Ellison Raymond Dunkle (yes, the initials spell NERD) walks in to one their 5 minute dating mixers. He is the perfect challenge for Kennedy and her makeover skills.

As she herself exclaims to Ned: " You got stuck with a real doozy, Ned." Poor man could only retort: "I know. If my mother was still around we'd sit down and have a conversation regarding her original intentions." After this, Kennedy re-christened him Nate and took on the challenge.

In order to transform Nate into someone dateable, Kennedy must do a complete transformation worthy of Dr. Higgins in My Fair Lady. Little did she know Nate had hidden potential and the two of them would never be the same.

Jennifer Probst presents us with the very current problem of bullying and the impact it has on young adolescents. Both Kennedy and Nate have had painful experiences in their past dealing with bullies. Kennedy has been able to transform herself into what anyone would call a polished, beautiful and independent woman. That is what is projected on the outside. Through the mastery of Jennifer Probst's writing, we also get to view how scarred and traumatized she is on the inside. The permanent damage to her self-esteem is such that Kennedy does not believe it is possible for her to have a long-term, loving relationship in her life. It takes a lot of determination from Nate to prove her wrong, the result of which is a story immensely emotional, entertaining and sometimes hilarious.

I would say our two main characters journey into mutual makeovers; a physical makeover and a makeover of theirs souls.

I have to admit there is one scene that will stay with me for a long time. It is the scene where food tasting is involved while Kennedy is wearing a blindfold. No spoilers here! When you read this book, you think of that scene and agree with me.

Here are a couple of quotes to entice you:

"Love has nothing to do with perfect. It has to do with flaws, and overcoming failure, and fighting for what you want."

"Happiness doesn't just tumble into your life... You have to grab it."
