Blog Tour She Belongs to Me by Carmen DeSousa

Title: She Belongs To Me (Southern Suspense Series)
Author: Carmen DeSousa
Release Date: December 8,013

A passionate romantic-suspense of love, betrayal, and obsession, She Belongs to Me will have you falling in love and wondering if you can trust anyone right up to the last page.

Charlotte police officer Jordan Monroe is used to being in control. Ever since his father died, he has provided for his mother and sisters and even hired his two brothers-in-law to help run his successful construction company. On a chance business trip, however, he meets the one person who throws his life into a whirlwind--Jaynee.

Jaynee has lived a tragic life and has sworn off all men. That is until a rugged southern gentleman lands in her seating area, refusing to take no for an answer. From the moment they meet, Jordan sweeps her off her feet, assuring her that happiness exists. But can she really escape her past?

Five years later, Jordan finds Jaynee on their back porch with a gunshot wound to the head. While Jaynee lies in a coma, Jordan has to go back to their beginning and figure out what went wrong. Did he push his wife to the edge, or has her past come back to haunt them?

She Belongs to Me is book one of The Southern Suspense Series. From there, all the stories have a slight connection to each other, so you can continue the journey and meet different protagonists with different issues and tragedies to overcome. Every story has a mystery, there's always a gentle message, and above all, there's always romance and suspense.

Could she really trust him?

As Jaynee slipped the key into the lock of her front door, she glanced over her shoulder at Jordan. Her eyes then shifted to the empty street beyond. Nothing was out of the ordinary, except that she was about to let the first man into her home in over a year.

She was fragile and therefore needed to be careful. She’d made too many mistakes with men. However, she didn’t want to be so cautious that she missed something great. Her refusing-to-date stance wasn’t making sense. Jordan represented everything she’d ever wanted in a man. How or why he was attracted to her she couldn’t comprehend, but for some reason he seemed interested.

Although she wanted to, she couldn’t deny the strong emotions she felt for Jordan. It scared her. She’d been hurt in the past. But hadn’t she prayed incessantly for God to send her a man like him? Still, she needed to be sure that what she felt was real. Her heart couldn’t handle another pummeling.

Once inside, Jordan locked the deadbolt behind them. The latch clicked loudly into place, making her jump. What had she done? Could she really trust him?

Jordan took her hand and led her to the sofa, pulling her down beside him. Her heart started beating out an uncontrollable rhythm. Dear God, she prayed silently, please don’t let him hurt me. She knew he wouldn’t hurt her physically; it was the mental agony she couldn’t handle.

Author Interview:

What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
I tend to act out my scenes: verbally and physically. More than once, my family has walked in on me in some interesting situations. I write romantic-suspense, so there have been abduction and restraining scenes, and I like to be accurate in my portrayals. ‘Nuff said? J

Where do you get your information or ideas for your books?
Everywhere, but mostly just life. I pull many of the situations in my stories from real-life events. My husband is a retired police detective, so I’ve heard and seen enough to last me a lifetime. The trick is to figure out what’s real and what’s imaginary in my stories. Surprisingly enough, most readers often get it backward. So if you read my novels and something sounds unbelievable, it’s probably true. Remember, truth is stranger than fiction.

Why did you choose this genre of books?
It’s one of the oldest rules in the book, but it’s the truth: I write what I know and what I like to read.

What book are you reading now?
I typically read three books at a time. Right now, I’m beta reading a historical fiction, proofreading a romantic suspense, and listening to an audio book suspense thriller.

What was the hardest part of writing your book?
Selling it! LOL! Writing a book is easy; selling it is a nightmare. Consumers have millions of books to choose from, so trying to get my novel in front of them and convince them that it’s worth their time is a difficult task.
But seriously, probably the hardest part about writing my first book was that no one but my youngest son knew, and then I shared it only with my best friend and cousin. I literally didn’t tell my husband for almost two years, not until I sold it to a publisher. Why, you might ask? No reason other than he cares so much about my feelings that I knew it’d upset him to watch me go through the querying process.

Do you have any advice for other writers?
If writing is your dream, never give up! If you only want to write because it seems like an easy living, give it up! Sorry, but it’s the truth. I love my job; I wouldn’t change it for any other career, but it demands your heart and soul. Once the muse knows you’ll listen to her whispering in your ear, she never shuts up. Plus, you have to have thick skin. You have to realized that your writing, no matter how much you want it to, WILL NOT appeal to everyone. If it’s what you want, though, wipe off your backside and get back on the proverbial horse.

Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
I’m a deeply emotional and shy person, even if I don’t come across that way on social media. I rarely go to social events, and when I do, I’m usually the girl hiding in the corner. Warning, though, if you get me one-on-one, I never shut up. I’m a chatterbox.

What do you do when you are not writing?
Is this a trick question? LOL! Read, of course. Seriously, I hate TV, and as I mentioned, I’d rather have my nose stuck in a book than anywhere else. J

Do you have a day job as well?
Yep…but I’ve had to cut it way back, though. I proofread books for my day job. I told you I love to read. J

First word that comes to mind when you hear..,
Chocolate – Ice cream

Lollipop – Yuck

Feather - Soft

Beach - Read

Flower - Daisy

    1. LOL, Mary! It's a funny sight, believe me. I'll tell you this...from my research for Entangled Dreams... Duct Tape DOES NOT work to restrain a victim... They show that in the movies, but it doesn't. A man's belt wrapped around a woman's wrists on the other hand, does work. I'll leave it at that. :D
