What can I say about Lila Felix and her books besides they seem to just get better and better as she goes through the series. I think what makes them better and better is the fact that she doesn't leave a character behind, you get to see the growth of the relationships as the years go by from the books she has written before. Now that I have said that lets talk about Maddox and Storey.... Sigh
Maddox the 3rd brother in the Black family feels disconnected from everyone and has held onto a secret since he was 9 years young. One late night, one cousin waiting for him and one wide open road for his search for his missing link. We get to go on this adventure with Maddox as he searches for his biological dad, but Maddox has a problem that very few know about... an aversion to being touched.
This adventure leads him to Cali where he finds his saving grace, the one who turns his life in a complete 180, Storey a short curvy Pin-up Girl model. Storey has her own demons in her life that she is hiding from, but Maddox is also there to prove her opinions of all men are WRONG! he is the complete opposite of what she knows. I loved these two and I loved seeing them heal each other.
One thing also about this book is that we get to learn more about Nixon the cousin of the Black brothers. Nixion had to leave Cali early due to a family emergency but on the road trip we got to see more about him.
This book ended in a different way and I loved it. Lila Felix took herself into the epilogue as a family friend to the Blacks and attended their family dinner. It was something I haven't seen any other author do. It is one thing to be the characters voice as the author but completely another thing to be a character in the book.... It was amazing!

Review
Time to go meet Nixon in another adventure by Lila Felix. This story is not about the Black brothers and their Derby Girls but this time about their cousin Nix the zebra. A second chance Romance with a kick!
Nix has gone through so much since we last read about him, in this book he has a child named Scout. OMG I love that little girl she is so funny and smart, and she maybe kinda looks a lot like her daddy's long time friend that he fell in love with!
Journey, a girl who has changed her life dropped out of college and went back to her home town. She starts working at this school where she meets this little girl that really resembles her appearance and who also holds the last name Black.
Nix and Journey long time friends who hadn't seen each other in years cross paths again and this time Journey actually admits that she loves him after years of him loving her and being her rock after a guy would break up with her.
This book shows exactly how tight the Black family is and what they would do for each other, Lila mixes in some past issues with Storey and the fight to make everyone safe and healthy and protected. This story went in a different direction then the other Derby books by having Nix be the derby connection and also having it be a second chance romance between Nix and Journey instead of it being a first time connection.
I loved every moment of this book!! This Family has grown in so many ways and I always feel like I am apart of the family when I am reading I can feel the connection that Lila is trying to make between the reader and the characters!
