Interview with Gabriel

Our guest today is Netchkhet, now known as Gabriel, who is the director of Guardians Inc. He is also the main hero in Sekhmet’s Guardians – Book One - Eternal Lovers, a romance novel written by V.S. Nelson.

Julia: Gabriel, thank you for being here.
Gabriel: Thank you for having me. It is a joy to being here. Please by all means call me Gabe, all my friends do.

Julia: What can you tell me about Guardians Inc., the business you run.
Gabriel: Guardians Inc, our protection agency, was formed over a hundred years ago by me and the six other members of the elite force, Sekhmet’s Guardians, who came to Earth almost six thousand years ago. We operate openly in the human world, having offices around the world. We protect dignitaries, world leaders, rock legends, the rich and famous and anyone who needs our services.

Julia: Are you telling me you are six thousand years old?
Gabriel: Yep.

Julia: Wow! You don’t look a day over thirty.
(I can tell Gabe is staring to relax. He takes off his sunglasses and places them on my desk, stretches then smiles up at me before answering.)
Gabriel: Thank you. I do try to keep fit.

(I can tell Gabriel is in excellent shape. When he first entered the room, he literally took my breath away. Standing 6’8” and weighing in around 275 lbs this raven haired man is quite the piece of eye candy.)

Julia: How long did it take you to convince Ms. Nelson to write your story?
(A smirk came over Gabe’s face.)
Gabriel: I bugged the shit out of her for over twenty years.

Julia: Twenty years? What did you do to make finally make her write your story?
(Gabe’s eyes lit up and another smile came over his face.)
Gabriel: That’s simple… I refused to let her sleep… and if she did, I haunted her dreams.

Julia: That wasn’t very nice, was it?
Gabriel: Hey, it got her attention and got the books written didn’t it?

Julia: So what was it like, seeing and meeting Jennifer, for the first time? Was it love at first site?
(Gabe closed his eyes and smiles as if he is remembering something very pleasant.)
Gabriel: The first time I saw Jen she literally took my breath away. Sadly, she didn’t think too highly at me at the time.

Julia: Really?
Gabriel: Yeah, if I remember correctly, her first words to me were, “fuck off,” or something to that effect anyway.

Julia: I just can’t imagine any woman telling you to take a hike.
Gabriel: Yeah, well she was the first… She’s an amazing creature for such a tiny thing. Jennifer may be less than five foot tall, but after she accepted her Selkie nature there was no holding her back.
(I can’t help but laugh)

Julia: I was told the two of you together look like the proverbial Mutt and Jeff... I didn’t believe it but seeing you and picturing her, I guess you do.
Gabriel: I guess in a way we do, but I really like her being so tiny. But don’t under estimate, that lady of mine packs one hell of a punch, and when she looses control, those claws of hers, well, let’s just say, they are as lethal as my blades.

Julia: What can you tell us about the others that came to Earth with you?
Gabriel: My brethren and I have known each other for so long. You know we were raised together in New Tuat, our home world. Each of us joined the elite fighting force, Sekhmet’s Guardians, and then we were led to Earth by Sekhmet herself… God, that was so long ago. I, imagine we have changed a great deal since then… As you know, even our names changed. Up until last year, we were scattered across the world. I think I mentioned we have offices in several other countries. I called everyone home to Chicago when Set’s Legions started acting up again. Everyone of us and several others now live at our Lake Michigan Estate.

Julia: Out of those six who would you say you’re closest to? Who is your best friend?
Gabriel: I’m close to all of them. Raphael and I have much in common… thought for a while I was going to loose Jennifer to his cowboy charm--His loss, my gain… Michael has always been my confident. He’s probably the most level headed of the bunch. Maybe that’s because he’s a doctor—who knows? Ariel, Raziel, and Thomas; they’re all a great bunch of guys, trustworthy, honest and great fighters. What else do you want to know?

Julia: Didn’t you leave out someone? What about Lance?
Gabriel: What can I tell you, you don’t already know? The kid is a genius, a geek and quite the ladies man… Never seen him with the same lady twice, well that was until Tshering Snow showed up. Not sure what it is with her but she’s got his attention, that’s for sure. He’s been following her around like a puppy dog for weeks now.

Julia: The names you took during the crusades make all of you sound like a bunch of ninja turtles. What is with the arch-angel names? Raphael…Gabriel.

(Gabriel doesn’t answer me, but his eyes tell me I’m treading on thin ice. Time to move on.)

Julia: We have time for one final question. How many books is V.S. Nelson planning on writing about Sekhmets Guardians?
Gabriel: Last I heard, eleven.

Julia: Gabriel, I’d like to thank you for being our guest today. Any final words for our readers out there?
Gabriel: If you haven’t figured it out yet, I am a man of few words, so I’ll just say this. If your readers want to know more about me, Jennifer or my brethren, I suggest they pick up a copy of Book One – Eternal Lovers and begin the journey into our world. I’m sure they will find the series unlike anything else on the market. I’d like to thank you again for having me, it’s been fun. I’m heading home now to check out things on the compound and to give Jennifer a little surprise I picked up on the way here.

(Gabriel pulls out a velvet ring box then puts one finger up to his lips – mum is the word and God knows I don’t want to disobey his silent command.)

Review

Eternal Lovers was awesome! I couldn't get enough of Raphael to begin with then Gabriel stepped into the picture and man, heart melting, swoon, love struck!  Once you get into the story there is no stopping you from reaching the end even through the wee hours of the night.
Jennifer's childhood was not such a happy time in her life other than when she lived with her grandparents.  When things don't turn out so well when she moves in with her mother and step-father she finds Bill (her best friend) as someone that can rescue her.  Marrying Bill seemed like the best thing to escape her home life.
After a while Jennifer goes on a trip to visit her high school friend Alice.  Always together and always talking on the phone a trip away from Bill is just what Jennifer needs to sort out her thoughts.  One week leads to another then by the time Jennifer loses multiple games with Alice she's staying for a month!
Raphael is just another Guardian working as Security when Jennifer finds herself falling for his charm.  Raphael can't help but to feel protective of Jennifer when Gabriel has a moment of pure insanity.  Scaring the hell out of Jennifer at the party, Raphael tells Gabriel he'll  talk to Jennifer and find out what's going on. Not knowing what came over Gabriel, Raphael plays it off and eases Jennifer's nerves.  Raphael cannot figure out how Jennifer's allure pulls at the strings of others.  Who is she or better yet what is she?
Has Gabriel found his lifemate?  Will Raphael be able to stop his feelings from growing stronger in time?  Who will Jennifer confide in about her secret?  Can Alice reveal to Jennifer what's really going on in her world with her and Mick?  Or will Jennifer be left in the dark?

About the Author
Being a Native American woman and a Scorpio, author V.S. Nelson has always had a fondness for history, mythology, the occult, and the unexplained events which have occurred on this world we call home. It was no wonder she found herself writing a paranormal series.

Raised on authors like H.G. Wells and Jules Verne and coming from a long line of oral storytellers, Ms. Nelson work has been defined as innovative and fresh. She will take you by the hand and lead you into the depths of her imagination as if you are sitting next to her on the couch one minute and alive within her fantasy world the next.

She has always enjoyed reading stories with strong relationships and happy-ever-after-endings and it is reflected in her work. Even her commercial fiction, Sins of a Man, the Memoirs of a Mafia Hit man, is layered with romantic elements. I've heard her say she is in love with love more than once and that too is echoed in her stories.

Landing in Arizona, after an exciting teaching career, which took her to the Middle East for several years, she lives in Arizona where she spends most of her time making love to her computer while writing, editing or researching, seven to ten hours a day. The days she's not writing, you will find her with her critique partners, attending or presenting a workshop or at a RWA (Romance Writers of America) meeting. She's extremely active in three RWA chapters in addition to her other associations.

She enjoys hearing from readers, fans and people with similar interests. They are more than welcome to contact her through her website http://www.authorvsnelson.com.
