Review of Silenced 2: The Overtaking

I was excited to read this book after reading Silenced (Book 1) months and months ago. Amber's journey continues as she hangs on by a thread. Waking up in a hospital after going to deep is one thing. Losing your best friend, the relationship with her boyfriend and her newly learned about sister is quite another. Everything that Amber goes through is rough, not only on her but on everyone around her. She wants to seek help but doesn't know where to start much less who to turn to.

Landon doesn't know how to take Amber's cutting but then it's understandable with what he's going through at home. Casey on the other hand cannot seem to embrace Amber as family. This causes Amber pain and again she turns to cutting while she is trying to get professional help.

I think what bothers me about Amber's character is she can't quite get it through her head that the world doesn't revolve around her. Once she starts down the road to recovery everything has to be about her and if the slightest hint of someone's heartache or drama comes along she shuts it out quickly. This pushes everyone who's ever cared for her away for a time...

There were so many times I wanted to smack Amber and say "Hello, just because you are spiraling out of control doesn't mean you gotta push everyone that is there to help you away!" Then again I've never been in Amber's shoes... Just thinking about it makes me wonder if I wouldn't care about what those that are closest to me go through...

As the author brings it all to a close, things seem to come together for everyone. I enjoyed continuing Amber's journey and enjoyed seeing the steps she took down the road to recovery.
