A simple mission turned deadly.

Nineteen-year-old vampire Dawn has led a sheltered life within the confines of her father’s presidential headquarters. Upon being sent on a mission to revamp four goofy misfits into guardians of a peaceful little town of Angel Creek, Dawn believes that all her dreams have finally come true. What starts off as a simple task, turns into something unexpected, changing Dawn’s life forever and leading the action-loving, thrill-seeking vampire teen on a path of mystery, danger and intrigue.

When a human girl is kidnapped by a group of rogue vamps, Dawn discovers that there is more going on in Angel Creek than meets the eye. And it all connects to Ethan, the cute newcomer who seems too perfect to be true, Sebastian, the mysterious vampire with a turbulent past, and even Dawn herself. Dawn must not only succeed in revamping the troubled recruits, but must also prevent the vampire race from being overtaken by a malevolent villain who has a strange and obsessive fascination with her. As threat escalates, romance blooms, and ghosts from her past begin to surface, Dawn is sure of only one thing: her life will never be the same.

The Difference Between Born and Made Vampires

Vampires exist in two varieties—the Born and the Made. My father, along with most vampires in the world, is part of the Made group; those who were once human and were turned by their vampire sires through an exchange of blood in death. There had always been much speculation by humans regarding this process, but the only way for someone to be successfully turned was for him or her to ingest vampire blood in their dying moment. Because of the complex timing of this—the human must have vampire blood coursing through the body as his or her heart stops—the turn was often made out of a loving gesture between the individual and his or her sire.

The Born, on the other hand, are actually born vampires. Most vampires cannot have children, but in specific circumstances, a Born vampire can give birth to another Born. This occurs as a result of a union between a Born and a vampire she sired. The offspring of the couple—always a daughter—is more powerful than any Made vampire. The Born grows and ages much like a human child, and if she does not give birth, will live out her life and perish in old age. Upon giving birth to another Born, however, the mother is frozen in time at that particular age for eternity.

In total, only about fifty vampires are born in the world in every generation. Legends say that they are the direct descendants of Dracula himself. The Born are the envy of the entire vampire race, not just for their power, but also because they have the opportunity to choose a more “human” life. They are able to give birth or die of old age if they so desire. Unfortunately, creating a vampire child is a risky procedure and most, like my mother, lose their own life in the process.

Review:

ReVamped is an awesome book by Ada Adams. I knew right away when I read the blurb that it is my kind of book and that I was going to love it. This awesome book had my attention from beginning all the way to the end.

Dawn is a nineteen year old vampire who lives at the Scarlet House, the Presidential Headquarters, with her father. He is the U.S. Vampire President. Dawn is a combat trainer and she trains the vampires there. At a young age, her father had pushed her to be well trained so she will be able to take care of herself. For a long time, she has dreamed of going on a mission to prove to herself and her father that she is capable of completing one on her own. At first, her father didn’t want to send her on the mission to Angel Creek because of her safety but Dawn convinces him that it is important to her and that she will do what is expected of her.

Her mission is to go to Angel Creek and train four vampires there to be Guardians. Upon arrival she goes to search for them and when she finally meets each of them, she knew right away that she had a lot of work ahead of her. They are very different from each other and have different personalities. Will they be able to get along with each other?

Dawn’s journey has begun with the new vampires. Will she be able to train them in time to where they can fight on their own? Will they be able to work together? Dawn finds out that something has happened to her friend. Will they be able to rescue her friend in time? On this journey, they will go through a lot together and their friendship for each other will continue to grow.

As I was reading, I felt like I was a part of this crew, training and learning how to fight. I could feel the emotions that Dawn is going through with her father growing up.

Ada Adams has done an amazing job writing ReVamped. It is a must read and I definitely recommend my friends to read it. I am looking forward to reading book two, ReAwakened.

I give it 4 and a half Dandies!!

Blurb

Becoming a vampire guardian was Dawn Fairchild’s ticket out of the Scarlet House. Fresh off a successful mission, life in Angel Creek should have been great. But when her sort-of-maybe-boyfriend, Sebastian, disappears on a quest to help a beautiful vampire from his past, Dawn finds herself amidst a web of danger, lies, and deceit.

Joining forces with Razor, an enigmatic rebel lacking both a verbal and a physical filter, and her band of Misfits—Brooke, Sophie, Hunter, and Seth—Dawn is thrust into a race against the clock to solve the mystery surrounding brutal Born kidnappings and come to terms with the sudden discovery of her own unique powers. With time ticking away and Born vampires’ lives in jeopardy, it quickly becomes evident that someone—or something—desperately wants Dawn and is willing to shed any amount of blood to get her.

Dawn has only one chance to face her demons and overcome all obstacles standing in her way as she embarks on the biggest mission of her life—one that threatens a deadly outcome for all involved.

DAWN & SEBASTIAN

Sebastian was the first to break our soundless stalemate. “Don’t you get it?” he asked, towering over me. “I can’t not worry, Dawn.” His eyes pierced through mine. “You planted yourself inside my head and now I can’t get you out.”

“You should.”

“I’ve tried, believe me.”

“Well, you should try harder,” I mumbled, my fury slowly fizzling away.

He shook his head. “I’m not sure that I want to. I like how you feel inside my head.” He ran a hand through his wet hair, then rested it against the open door behind me. The gesture caused him to lean forward, bringing him even closer.

Suddenly, all I could think about was the hard curve of his full, enticing lips.

If I just tilted my head slightly…

Snap out of it! my subconscious warned as I bit down on my lip.

“Those feelings that you have are a lie!” I blurted out, pulling back. “It’s all because I gave you my blood and accidentally ingested yours. It’s like some kind of a Born-Made blood curse,” I said, though, this—whatever it was—felt nothing at all like a curse.

“Are you telling me that I must ignore every single thought that’s going through my mind right now?” he asked, moving closer.

I took a tiny step back. “Yes. Definitely.”

“What about my feelings?”

“Uh-huh. Those too.”

“Every one of them?” His voice was low and husky.

“Yes,” I whispered.

“Fine.” He was saying one thing, but doing another, I realized, as he inched even closer.

“Good.” I retreated further into the partially open door.

The cool sensation of the wood soothed my burning skin. My back pressed against the door, forcing it to slam shut. Sebastian’s arm buckled under the sudden shift, sending him tumbling into me. He caught himself with his other hand mere inches before colliding with me, swiftly placing it on the other side of my head.

There was nowhere to run.

And even if I could escape, I wasn’t sure that I wanted to. My head spun as I soaked in the aromatic fragrance of his body. Soap and bare skin and something more severe. Icy. Dangerous. His breath held a hint of cool mint, and I was suddenly overcome with the desire to taste him. Trying to expel the thought, I bit down on my bottom lip, desperately pleading with my heart to still.

He’s the last person you should be thinking about kissing right now! the rational part of my mind screamed. The less rational part craved his lips and thirsted for his touch.

“Do your wounds hurt?” I asked in a frantic attempt to change the subject. I looked down at the light pink marks across his chest and arms.

“No. Do yours?” He cradled the back of my neck with his hand, gently trailing the two tiny fading scars with his thumb.

I shook my head and closed my eyes, losing myself in the sensation of his touch.

“Good,” he whispered.

An astounding wave of pleasure surged through my body as he pressed his mouth to the wound, igniting the memory of his fangs against my skin. He trailed tender kisses along the side of my neck, down to my clavicle, then back up toward my jaw. His lips grew fierce and his kisses deepened as his mouth finally found mine. I parted my lips, pulling him tighter into me, forgetting all about my intention to fight him.
