Interview with J.L. McCoy

1. What's your next project?

I am currently working on book 5 in the Skye Morrison Vampire Series. I’ve also started a contemporary romance novel that I hope to have out by the end of the year.

2. What’s your favorite line from any of your books? Why?

“Vampire pheromones were one thing and Archer Rhys was another. I could pretty much handle each of them independently, but throw them together and it’s a wonder I still had my panties on.” – The Original Sin (SMVS, #3)

I love this quote because it shows the hard core attraction the main character has for her boss and how helpless she is against it. As a human, she was always susceptible to the vampire’s pheromones, and that was a part of her attraction to them. But Archer Rhys is a force all by himself and Skye just can’t seem to keep her distance.

3. List five adjectives to describe yourself.

Loyal, hard-working, giving, compassionate, protective.

4. If someone made a movie of your life would it be a drama, a comedy, a romantic-comedy, action film, or science fiction?

Definitely a Comedy. I’ve lived a crazy, weird and wild life.

5. If you could visit any place in the world, where would you choose to go and why?

I’ve been dying to visit the Louvre in Paris. I’m a huge museum buff.

6. Describe your past week as a type of landscape or a weather forecast.

Heavy thunderstorms. I had major dental work done and it’s been a bit of a painful week for me.

7. If you could have any superpower, what would it be?

I would love to be able to fly.

8. What's your greatest passion?

Reading books and writing.

9. Tell us something nobody knows about you.

I have an obsession with boxes. I love them.

10. If you were a spy what would your alias be?

Mistress Margarita Mayhem…but I wouldn’t make a very good spy. I have a tendency to be oblivious at times.

11. If you could be anything in the world, what would you be and why?

Jimi Hendrix’s guitar. *swoon* Have you seen him play that thing? So hot.

12. If you could meet anyone from history, who would you meet and why?

Janis Joplin because she was a soulful, brilliant musical goddess.

13. Name 2 things you consider yourself to be very good at.

Procrastination and Persuasion. (I may be just a wee bit spoiled. *wink*)

14. Name 2 things you consider yourself to be very bad at.

Complex Mathematics and Patience.

15. If you could have picked your own name, what would it be?

Mrs. Archer Rhys *swoon*

Synopsis
"Skye Morrison begged for death. Fortunately, someone didn't listen.

Skye awakens to discover she has been irrevocably changed and the unprecedented circumstances of her rebirth have now created a new threat to her very existence. Sired by both the monster Amun and the vampire Archer Rhys, Skye must prove to the army of An Dilis (The Faithful) whose essence is most dominant within her and that she is not a danger to them or society. The Faithful soon discover that she is unlike any vampire ever created before as she struggles to adjust to her new life and the changes that come with it.

Her recent brush with death has made Skye realize that life is precious and she wastes no time telling the one she loves how she feels about him.

But, Amun finds out that someone interfered with Skye's transformation and the intrusion makes him livid. He gives Skye 7 days to come to him or he threatens to begin killing the ones she loves most.

Will Skye be able to survive long enough to enjoy her new life now that Amun is hunting her and everyone she loves?

Excerpt

I pulled my fangs out with difficulty and licked the blood from her wrist as Archer did the same. I sat back on the couch, closed my eyes and took a few much needed deep breaths. Her blood had been utterly exquisite and by far the best I had tasted yet. I licked my lips and fangs, not wanting to waste a drop, as I basked in the satisfaction of my meal.

“That was amazing,” she whispered contentedly beside me as she tried to catch her breath. “Please tell me I’m next,” Jason chuckled from the couch. “I could use a good orgasm.”
I heard Archer growl lowly and opened my eyes to see him flash to his feet as he turned to face Jason.
“Archer,” I whispered and he immediately turned back to me, his eyes were just starting to drain of their color. I guess someone didn’t like the way my bite had affected the male feeders. I stood on wobbly legs and reached out for him. He was instantly there, his arms wrapped protectively around me, and I sighed as I shook my head, trying to clear the overwhelming urge to feed again.

My God... That was the most amazing experience of my entire life. Her blood... it was like tasting heaven. I didn’t want to stop, but I knew I should before I took too much, I told him silently as I looked up into his ice blue eyes

“Your control is astounding, Skye,” he praised in a soft whisper, his eyes shining proudly. “It is very rare for one as young as you to stop so readily. You are a remarkable woman... but I always knew that.”

“It is impressive,” Oleif conceded from his post by the doorway. “Ruarc will be happy to know she’s not a completely mindless monster after all.”
