The Road That Leads To Home by Jaimie Hope

Meet Sara Rhea!
What is your full name? Do you have a nickname?

Sara Rhea

What do you consider your hair color? Eye color?

I have dark brown eyes and hair.

How would you describe your own facial features?

Overall, I’d have to say I’m fairly average. I often think I blend into the woodwork at the inn. However, my eyes are my favorite facial feature. They are very expressive and I often think I missed my calling when I went to college for advertising over pursuing my dream of a career in the theater.

Do you have a secret?

Doesn’t everyone? Keep reading the series and you may find out what it is.

What makes you laugh out loud?

My father is usually the only one who can make me laugh out loud. He’s a pretty big guy, and I know my boyfriends used to be scared of him in high school. Thinking back on that now makes me laugh out loud because my father is a great big teddy bear. He loves to make people smile.

James gives Sara a rose...
Have you ever been in love? Had a broken heart?

James is the love of my life. Losing him has been devastating, and yet I still don’t believe our journey together is complete.

What is your biggest fear? Who have you told this to? Who would you never tell this to? Why?

I faced my biggest fear when I lost James. My new biggest fear is I won’t be able go on without him. I haven’t told that to anyone, but I definitely wouldn’t want Becca to know about it. My big sister and I have gotten closer since I came back home, but I still don’t trust her not to use my fears against me in an argument, and we still do argue with the best of em.

Look at your feet. Describe what you see there. Does you wear dress shoes, gym shoes, or none at all? Are your socks that are ratty and full of holes? Or are you wearing a pair of blue and gold slippers knitted by you grandmother?

My feet are currently wrapped up in my blanket. I am wearing the green and white wool slipper socks James used to say reminded him of Strawberry Shortcake.

What is in your refrigerator right now? On your bedroom floor? On you nightstand? In your garbage can?

Right now, in the refrigerator is the roast that is marinating for tomorrow night’s dinner. My garbage can is empty. On my bedroom floor is the clothes I just changed out of, and on my nightstand is a silver framed picture of James and my clock radio.

You're doing intense spring cleaning. What is easy for you to throw out? What is difficult for you to part with? Why?

The easiest thing for me to part with is my old sneakers. They have holes in the bottom of their soles. The hardest thing for me to part with is the panda bear in the back of my closet because James gave it to me.

Sara feels...
What is one strong memory that has stuck with you from childhood? Why is it so powerful and lasting?

That’s a tough one because I have a lot of great childhood memories. The one that sticks out in my mind the most right now is my first day of high school. I met James that day. Somehow, I just knew he was going to be someone very special in my life. Turns out I was right.

It’s Saturday at noon. What are you doing? Give details. If you're eating breakfast, what exactly are you eating? If you're stretching out in your backyard to sun, what kind of blanket or towel do you lie on?

Saturday afternoons are spent working at the inn. At noon, I would be helping get lunch served to the guests.

You’re getting ready for a night out. Where are you going? What are you wearing? Who are you going out with?

I don’t get out much anymore, but when I did, my favorite spot was the coffee shop. James and I could spend hours there just talking. There’s nothing like spending a Saturday night drinking coffee and sharing a laugh with someone special. The best part? I could have the time in my life wearing an old pair of jeans and a sweater.

Synopsis
Sara always knew she was different from other girls, but she never knew how much. She'd been having dreams all her life. It didn’t bother her when they played out in reality the next day. After all, that happens to everyone sometimes, didn't it? When the phone rings one morning with devastating news she knew was coming she could no longer ignore her gift. She also couldn't help wondering if she could have changed the fate of those she loved if only she would have spoken up sooner.

Review
When I opened this book I was looking for a description of Sara. Little did I know that the book would take hold and I wouldn't be able to put it down till I finished it. This book touched my heart in ways I could not begin to describe here without breaking down. There were times where I laughed out loud and other times where I had to wait to continue reading because my eyes were blurred with tears. I never expected the ending to be what it was, and wish it was not as it is now. I don't know what or if the author has plans to write a second book after this one but I would hope that she will. To end a book on such a heart felt moment and not know what will come next... I would encourage the author to continue this story. I would also recommend this short story to others.
