Welcome Jodie Pierce
Our Guest
After my freshman year in high school English class, I was bored and my teacher took notice. She had me moved to advanced English the following year. There were a lot of essays in advanced English and my freshman teacher had been keeping tabs on me. She sat down with me and encouraged me to start writing short stories. Little did she know that I had already started doing just that. She started meeting with me weekly, going over my stories, critiquing them and offering guidance. I started writing about YA romance, teen love, etc. I was bored with my stories but continued to write as I loved it so much.
In college, I read an Anne Rice book and found my calling in the Paranormal genre. I was inspired by the vampires in her stories (I started reading the whole series as I was fascinated). I started writing about those vampires which came easily for me since I’d had a fascination with them since I was young. The stories unfolded in my mind and transferred well to the paper. I was hesitant to let others read my work though. Then I read a Christine Feehan erotica novel and started experimenting with my vampire sexual side.
It wasn’t until many years later that I had perfected my stories, written dozens of them that I let a friend read a story. She loved it and asked for more. She loved my work and suggested that I try to get published. I started researching it and worked at it for almost nine years. When the email came stating they wanted to publish me, I almost deleted it as spam. I couldn’t believe it. I had submitted a story to them two years prior and they rejected it. With my husbands encouragement, I resubmitted the same story years later and they accepted it. Crazy how it works. After being published, I found that I had to do all my own marketing and promotions. I felt cheated that this company was taking my royalties and I was doing more work than they were. I started looking into self publishing and have been doing that since.
Learning to self publish was such a project that I often offer my assistance to others when asked. I have a designated Author’s blog where I give promo time to various Authors. I’m currently working with an excellent Author, Mark Knight who’s very knowledgeable but just needs a little tweaking. His book is fantastic and I want to help him get the word out for it. I currently have both traditionally and self published works published on Amazon, Smashwords and Barnes and Noble.
The titles are:
- The Vampire Queen-book 1
- The Vampire Chronicles-book 2
- Demise of the Vampire Queen-book 3
- Condemned by A Vampire
- The Reluctant Vampire
- Once Sanguist, Twice Bi
- Tales of the Vampire: From A-Z
- Midnight Thirsts – my story Lilith is part of this anthology published by Melange Books.
