Want another bite?” Then she started to laugh. “I know how much you like local cherries.” Tipping back my beer, I narrowed my eyes at her, then set the bottle down with a thunk. “What is that supposed to mean?” She shrugged. “You liked mine, didn’t you?” “What?” April laughed even harder and sucked on the spoon. “Wait a minute. Wait a minute.” I sat up straight and blinked at her. “Are you serious? You were a virgin that night?” Want more? Click here: http://bit.ly/32yl0nj
Unforgettable - SP
Synopsis
Back then, I had it all.
Wicked fastball. Killer instinct. Cocky grin. Full package.
(And believe me, I knew how to score.)
My senior year, I was a first round draft pick with a two-million-dollar signing bonus. Before I could even legally buy myself a beer, I made my Major League debut.
Point is, I was invincible.
Until one day I wasn’t.
After tanking my career—during the World Series, no less—the last thing I want to do is return to my hometown, where every jerk in a ball cap has an opinion about what went wrong with my arm. So when my sister drags me back to town for her wedding, I vow to get in and out of there as quickly as possible.
Then I run into April Sawyer.
In high school we were just friends, but I’d always wanted her, and I’d never forgotten her—the red hair, the incredible smile, the crazy, reckless thing we did in the back of my truck the night we said goodbye. It’s been eighteen years, but one look at her and I feel like my old self again. I can still make her laugh, she can still take me down a notch, and when the chemistry between us explodes, it’s even hotter this time around—and I don’t want it to end.
But just when I think I’m ready to let go of the past and get back in the game, life throws me a curveball I never saw coming.

Blurb: The genius and the sunshine girl. As children, we fought bitterly and often, bickering every chance we got. But then we grew up. Then we came back. Delphine Dansey carries her heart on the outside of her body; she’s looking for love and chasing dreams. She’s spoiled and selfish, the kind of beautiful that’s made for money and fame. But somehow she’s ended up in my keeping: a pretty submissive I can’t seem to resist, a lover who obsesses and tempts me. I thought I’d locked my heart away a long time ago, along with all my other weaknesses. But some doors won't stay closed, no matter how hard I fight to keep them shut. She unravels me, just like our friends are unraveling, just like Thornchapel itself is unraveling. All year long, we’ve been sowing lust and jealousy and pain, heedless of the consequences. But a harvest is inevitable, and so now we must reap our sorrows. And our sighs.

*Harvest of Sighs is Book Three in the Thornchapel series.*

Excerpt: “Dammit, Auden, let me the fuck go.” “Use your safeword, and I will.” I open my mouth. I can’t make the words come out. May I, I think. May I, May I, May I. But still my tongue won’t move; the sounds won’t push past my lips. Auden’s mouth curls up at the corner. “That’s what I thought.” “Fuck you,” I retort. “No,” Auden says heatedly, his hands tightening on my wrists, “fuck you. Just yesterday you promised—you promised me that you were mine, you promised me forever together. You swore. And now you’re running away again? You couldn’t even keep your promise for twenty-four hours?” I sputter, tripping over the words as they tumble out of my mouth. “There is no promise, Auden! Things have fucking changed! And you lied about it! Jesus fucking Christ, Auden, you lied about it.” “I didn’t lie.” “You didn’t tell me.” He sniffs. “That’s not lying.” I glare at him. He glares right back at me. “That’s a juvenile justification and you know it,” I say. “I was going to tell you.” “When? After you’d fucked me again? Or after Lammas? Or maybe ten years from now when I finally worked up the courage to ask you to marry me?” Auden’s glare softens into something boyish and vulnerable. He blinks long-lashed eyes at me. “You want to marry me?” “Oh my God, Auden, that’s not the point,” I groan. “The point is we can never get married, and we can’t be together, and we can never be together again, and you knew and you didn’t tell me. You let me—you let us—yesterday, we—” I can barely get the words out. He and I have done something unthinkably bad, something so wrong that even the word wrong isn’t heavy enough. We were more wrong than wrong—we were corrupt and unholy. Immoral and depraved. “I know what we did yesterday,” Auden says, his voice as gentle as the grip on my wrists is firm. “I don’t see the problem, and I don’t see why you can’t keep your promise to me.” I stare at him a moment, totally confounded. “Auden…am I talking at thin air right now? Am I not making sense? Is it my accent? Should I switch to yours?” I say the last part in my best I wear a regatta blazer to actual regattas voice, and he makes a face. “Don’t do that, you’re terrible at it,” he says. “Listen, it’s not like—this isn’t like you’re thinking. I didn’t wait to tell you because I was trying to trick you, I waited because I wanted to find the right way to explain it all. Say it the right way so that you wouldn’t run away from me when I told you, so that you wouldn’t sever your heart from mine. I didn’t want this to be the end of us. And why should it be? Why shouldn’t you belong to me?” he finishes with a wild urgency. I search his face. His stupid, handsome face, where even now I see glimmers of yesterday’s revels. A small bruise in the shape of Rebecca’s bite on his jaw, visible even under the shadow of his day-old beard, a small scratch disappearing into his cinnamon-colored hair from his run through the trees. The vibrant flicker of those hazel eyes—the eyes of the forest. Never in a thousand years did I think God would be this sadistic or this pitiless, to put me in a position where I have to refuse this man. “You know why I can’t,” I say finally. “We can’t. We just—it can’t be, Auden. You know this.” His eyes stay stark and raw on mine as he says, “But I want you.” “You can’t.” “But I want it,” he says, and with his eyes like that and his voice so low, there’s no mistaking what it is. “You can’t want it,” I whisper, and his grip tightens on my wrists as he pushes them out to the sides until my arms are spread on either side of me and my wrists are pinned to the wall. It’s like I’m about to be crucified, like I’m already on the cross, but without the nails and the thorns, because Auden himself is all the nails and thorns I’ll ever need. “Oh, can’t I?” he says. “Because I do, St. Sebastian, I do want it. I need it. I don’t care what that makes me, I don’t care what that means for my immortal soul. I’ve known you were mine since I kissed you in the thorn chapel, and I’ve known that you wanted to be mine since you let me bite your lip until it bled.” His eyes drop to my lip piercing now, and I can feel how much he wants to pull on it and kiss it. I can feel how much he wants that labret running along his shaft, how much he’d love to see it gleaming in the dark while he fucks me. “You can run away all you want, but it’s too late. You already swore to me. I’ve already known what it was like to have your heart in my hands, and it’s simply too late.” He ducks his head enough to move his lips over mine—something both more and less than a kiss—something like a promise made with touch instead of words. And fuck me if I don’t want to promise something right back. “It can’t be too late,” I whisper. “Even if you did wait to tell me until you got what you wanted.” Auden doesn’t lift his mouth from mine, and I feel his words as much as I hear them. “And what did I get, my little martyr? What do you think I wanted?” I wish so much I weren’t still hard as I answer him. “You wanted to fuck me.” “No,” he says, tugging on my lip piercing with his teeth. “I wanted what I still want.” He kisses me again. “I want forever, stubborn boy. Only that.”

🔥🔥 CHAPTER REVEAL 🔥🔥 Are you dying to get your hands on Waiting for my Queen by Georgia Cates?! You are in for a treat. We have a chapter reveal to hold you over until release day, March 3rd!

  BLURB

Emilia— All I’ve ever wanted was to marry for love. But girls like me don’t have that luxury. We are used as pawns in a game we can’t control. The game? It’s called Mafia. I was foolish enough to try to change the rules… and I lost.   Luca— She was promised to me years ago. And he dared to take her from me. Dared to touch what was mine. I put an end to that. I hope he’s enjoying the view from his dirt room.   Emilia— My beloved’s killer placed a ruby ring on my finger and called me his queen. But that red gem symbolizes something different for me. It represents the blood shed by those I love most. Hell was empty the day we wed. Because the devil was standing before me and said “I do.”   Luca— I saw her as a possession. A shiny toy I didn’t want other boys to play with. But she’s so much more. Beautiful and brave and strong and broken all at once. She tastes like everything I’ve ever wanted.   Emilia— Hidden and patient. I wait for the perfect time to seek my revenge. But slowly, I feel him possessing me. His heart is full of darkness… and I still want every inch of him. Hard as I try, I can’t escape loving this beautiful monster.   Luca— I’m waiting patiently because I already know that she’s mine. Mine in a way that no one will ever understand. Even if she hasn’t yet realized it. For love, I’d do anything. For her, I’d do everything.

  CHAPTER REVEAL
Chapter 5 Luca Rossini New York, 1978

My father’s consigliere, Arrigo, also known as his right-hand man, comes into our conference room where we’re sitting around the table. He’s one of the few people without the last name Rossini who are allowed into this room. “The Bellini women have arrived. They’re waiting for you in the living room.” My father goes to the wet bar and chuckles as he pours six glasses of whiskey. “They came. You know what this means, don’t you?” “It means they have no allies willing to go to battle for them. They’re out of options,” my brother Stephan says. “Exactly. And that means we’ve won the war. The Bellini assets are ours.” And Emilia Bellini is finally mine. Everyone takes a glass of whiskey, even my youngest brother Enzo who is only sixteen. “You should be the one to lead us in this toast, Luca. This is your victory.” I didn’t do this alone. It began with my grandfather’s foresight so many years ago. “From long ago until now, here’s to all of the decisions that led us to this place.” “But mostly your clever decisions, son. Your bravery,” my father says. We click our glasses together and toss back the whiskey. Enzo coughs and sputters much like I did the first time I had a shot of whiskey. “Such a mamma’s boy.” Dante loves ragging on Enzo. I place my hand on top of my baby brother’s head and muss up his hair. “What’s the matter? Can’t handle your liquor?” “I can handle it. It just went down the wrong way.” “Sure, it did, little bro.” I was younger than Enzo when I had my first shot of whiskey. I still remember the way it burned on the way down. I also remember pretending that I could handle it although I wasn’t certain that someone hadn’t swapped the liquor out with lighter fluid. My father slams his glass on the table. “Come on, boys. Time to collect our spoils of war.” This moment has been a long time coming. As I walk to where the women are waiting, it suddenly doesn’t feel real to me. I’m so accustomed to delays that I find myself wondering what the next one will be. But I remind myself that we’re in charge now, and there’ll be no more excuses. Emilia is going home with me tonight. The six Bellini women are seated when we enter the living room, and my eyes bounce back and forth between the daughters seated on each side of their mother. Both are beauties and very similar, but one is much lovelier than the other. I can’t decide which one is Emilia because it’s been too many years since I’ve seen her. “Welcome to our home,” my mother says as she comes into the room. Sofia smiles, but the hostility in her expression isn’t disguised. I don’t fault her for that, though. We’ve earned her hatred a hundred times over. “Your home is as lovely as I remember it.” Her tone is ice cold. “How long has it been since you were last here?” “Many, many years.” “That’s a shame. Looking back on it now, you and I should have spent more time together and raised the children to know each other. Perhaps things would have gone differently if we had.” “Perhaps.” I focus my attention on the girl sitting to Sofia’s left. The more beautiful one. The older-looking one. The more frightened-looking one with tears pooling in her lower lids. Dark brown hair cascading over her shoulders and down her arms, the ends nuzzling against her bare skin like a frightened child clinging to its mother. Almond-shaped deep-caramel eyes surrounded by lush dark lashes. A few scattered freckles across the bridge of her perfectly shaped nose. Plump, glossy coral lips. In my wildest dreams, my betrothed didn’t grow up to be this beautiful. And it annoys the hell out of me because I don’t want to be attracted to her. I want to make her suffer. Sofia Bellini grips the hand of the girl in question. “Please, Marco. Swear to me on your honor that my daughter will be safe with you.” My father chuckles. “Emilia is going to give us babies, heirs to the Rossini empire. There is no safer place for her than with our family. You know that.” Sofia and the girl beside her, my Emilia, embrace one another and sob. Her grandmother and sisters cluster around her, doing the same. It’s pathetic. I would have expected less of a display from Bellinis. Certainly not this spectacle. My betrothed has weaknesses. Those will need to be eliminated before she influences our sons with that nonsense. “That’s more than enough of that,” I tell them. She lifts her chin, and her eyes meet mine for the first time. Inside those deep-caramel orbs, I see something I like very much: rage. There during one heartbeat and gone the next, it was only a fleeting flash. But I saw it and I don’t mistake it for what it is. This girl is going to be so much fun to break. “Come, Emilia. I’m ready to take you home.” “She won’t be living here?” the grandmother asks. “I have my own home. She’ll live there with me.” “You didn’t mention anything about her living outside of the Rossini compound.” “I don’t think we’re obligated to tell you anything more than we wish to tell you, Sofia. In case you’ve forgotten, we have full control,” my father says. Soft murmurs pass back and forth between Emilia and her mother, and I’m unable to decipher what they’re saying. And it pisses me off. Reaching for her upper arm, I tug. “That’ll be all of that.” When she’s on her feet, I realize just how small she is. A dainty little princess to break. That’ll be fun. “Where’s your suitcase?” “The foyer.” “We’ll pick it up on the way out.” There’s an overlapping of goodbyes and I-love-yous as Emilia and I leave, but her mother’s voice bleeds through the noise. “When will I see her again?” It’s never been my intention to keep Emilia from her family. I see no value in separating them, but that’s something I’ll keep to myself for now. Continuing to walk forward, I don’t look back. “You’ll see her when I decide I want you to see her.” I’m pleased when I manage to get her into the back seat of my car without a bunch of carrying on. “Where to?” Sal asks. “Home.” “Yes, sir.” During the drive to my house, I don’t say a word to Emilia. I want her fear to escalate to the highest level possible. And I believe I’m successful as I listen to the sound of her rapid, unsteady breath filtering through the silence. She takes a final deep breath and blows it out slowly through pursed lips when Sal parks the car inside the garage. I’d love to know what’s going through that mind of hers right now. “Welcome home, Emilia.” No response from her. No surprise from me. I fetch her suitcase from the trunk, and she follows me through the house as I lead her upstairs to the bedroom. Our bedroom. “You’ll get the full tour tomorrow. Right now, you and I have some loose ends to tie up.” “What kind of loose ends?” “You’ll see.” I place her suitcase on the bench at the foot of the bed and point at the door to our left. “That’s the bathroom. There’s a pregnancy test waiting for you on the vanity. When you’ve finished, show me the results.” “I don’t know how to take a pregnancy test.” “You can read, can’t you?” “Of course, I can.” “Follow the directions on the box.” “Why are you making me do this?” “I have to be certain that you aren’t pregnant with Moretti’s bastard.” “I’m not pregnant.” “Then take the test and prove it.” “Fine.” There it is again. That flash of anger in her eyes. That’s it. Come out, angry princess. I want to play with you. She marches into the bathroom and shuts the door with a firm thud. A brave little princess she is to do that under my roof. Several minutes tick by and she emerges from the bathroom. “The directions say it takes two hours for the results to appear.” “I’m aware.” Two hours. What shall we do while we wait? She crosses her arms, looking around my bedroom. Avoiding my eyes. “Come and sit next to me. I won’t bite… unless you’re into that kind of thing.” “I’m fine where I am.” “I’m not asking.” I pat the bed. “Sit beside me.” She does as I tell her, but the scowl on her face lets me know that she isn’t pleased about it. “Happy?” “No.” “You’ve gotten everything you wanted. What do you have to be unhappy about?” “Our union should have been a joyous occasion. A beautiful wedding where our friends and families came together to celebrate our marriage.” “A marriage between us was never going to be a joyous occasion.” “It could have been, but you chose to make things difficult and unpleasant. That means I was forced to do things I would have preferred to avoid.” “I know the specifics of how you murdered Nic. You took pleasure in what you did to him.” “Yes. I rather enjoyed it.” “Only someone evil could admit that.” I expected her to bring up Moretti sooner or later, but hearing his name on her lips pisses me off more than I anticipated. “Would you like to know what his last words were?” She looks at me a moment before answering. “No.” “You really don’t want to know what your beloved boy said to me while he was lying there in a pool of his own blood dying?” “I doubt anything you tell me would be the truth. And I know what Nic’s last words were to me. Those are the ones that I’ll always hold dear inside my heart.” There’s my confirmation. Marrying Moretti wasn’t about not marrying me. She truly loved him. “Suit yourself. If you can live without knowing what he said about you, then I can live without telling you.” “I can live with it. The question is how do you live with yourself after brutally taking the life of an innocent man?” “Moretti wasn’t innocent. He tried to take what belonged to me.” “Contrary to what you may believe, I have never belonged to you.” “We were promised to each other by our grandfathers. Betrothed. I was told my entire life that you were to be my wife.” “It’s 1978. A betrothal between us when we were children should never have happened.” “But it did happen. And you will always belong to me whether you like it or not.” One of her brows lifts. “Unless that pregnancy test proves that I’m carrying Nic’s baby? You won’t have me then, will you?” I had hoped that Emilia’s Catholic faith, or maybe Nicolò’s fear of Alessandro, had persuaded them to not have sex. I see now that any hope I had was in vain. The thought of Moretti putting his filthy, inferior hands on my betrothed enrages me. But what’s even worse is that she let him. She wanted him to touch her and he did. Now, she could be pregnant. I can’t handle it. I’m so pissed off that I don’t trust myself to be in the same room with her right now. I get up with the intentions of leaving, but I stop when I hear Emilia’s low chuckle. Moving to stand in front of her, I lean down until we’re so close that I have to blink a few times to focus on her eyes. She doesn’t blink. She doesn’t cower. She stares right back at me. “I’m going to do you a kindness, which is very out of character for me, and I’m going to leave this room. While I’m gone, I’d suggest that you get on those little Catholic knees of yours and pray very hard that the pregnancy test you just took is negative. Or we’re going to have a huge problem on our hands.”

Excerpt

“How good are you at keeping secrets, Lenora Astalis?” His voice wrapped around my neck like a noose. I wanted to cough. I needed to cough. He terrified me. I hated him with the heat and passion of a thousand blazing suns. He made me feel like a scaredy cat and a snitch. “Oh, yes. If you’re coward enough to pretend you’re asleep, you’re good enough to keep a secret. That’s the thing about you, Astalis. I can smash you into dust and watch your grains dance at my feet. My little circus monkey.” I might’ve hated Vaughn, but I hated myself more for not standing up to him. For not opening my eyes and spitting in his face. Clawing his unnaturally blue eyes out. Taunting him back for all the times he’d taunted all of us at Carlisle Prep. “By the way, your eyelids are moving,” he said drily, chuckling. He straightened up, his finger making a brief stop at the base of my spine. He snapped his fingers, making a breaking sound, and I nearly jumped out of my skin, letting out a gasp. I squeezed my eyes tighter, still pretending to sleep. He laughed. The bastard laughed. Was he sparing me for the time being? Was he going to check in on me from now on? Retaliate if I opened my mouth? He was so unpredictable. I wasn’t sure what my life would look like in the morning.

  EXCERPT

Finally, I take a deep breath and turn, my cup in my hand. But Boris is right there. And I’m me, so my hot cup of tea spills. This time, it’s not on me, but on Boris’ nice, white shirt. He yelps—because, you know, it’s freaking hot—and immediately pulls his shirt up over his head. “I’m sorry! I’m sorry!” I yell while grabbing a dish towel and running it under the cold water from the faucet. I reach out, dabbing the cool rag onto his very defined chest and abs, working completely on autopilot. It takes a moment for me to realize I’m touching his bare skin. I back away, the rag still in my hand, my hand still halfway between him and me, and apologize again, feeling helpless. “Shit. I’m such a klutz. I’m so sorry I hurt you.” Boris takes the hand with the rag in it and catches my gaze. I look away, licking my lips, but looking away from the intensity in his eyes means taking in the rest of him. Oh well, if I must. Powerful shoulders, washboard abs, bulging biceps. There’s a patch of dark hair on his chest, a thin happy trail that leads down underneath his jeans. And that big, beautiful dragon tattoo snaking up one arm. He looks sexy and fit and just the right mixture of bad and good. Christ. I might pass out. This guy is… He can’t be real. “It’s okay,” he says quietly. “Accidents happen. I shouldn’t have startled you like that.” I gulp—literally gulp—and give a weak nod in response. He nods back and drops my hand. “Well, now I have to read you that book, I suppose,” I say, a half-hearted attempt at a joke. "I insist." His short and simple response hits me right between the legs but I force them to move forward anyway, over to my chaise. I sit in my favorite spot on one end, my feet curled under me and pull my gray chenille blanket up over my lap. This is a cue for LuLu, who’s been hiding who-knows-where, to jump up on me with a loud greeting. “Hello, my sweet girl.” I pet my fluffy white cat as she purrs and rubs on me, happy to have her mommy home again. “Who is this?” Boris asks. “This is LuLu, spoiled fur-child.” He reaches over to give her a pet and says, “Hello LuLu. You are as beautiful as your mother.” I blush again, not used to being complimented like this. “You’re good for our ego, sir. Maybe we’ll invite you over more often.” "I would like that." His delicious accent makes even the simplest phrases sound sexy and potentially wicked. Blushing again, I look down at the book in my hands for distraction. It’s a sci-fi type of book with a strong female lead and a strong side of romance. It was good. Not one of my top ten, but I can see a dude liking it. As I start to read, Boris leans his head back against the back of the chaise, closing his eyes. I might worry he’s fallen asleep, but I see his face react as I read. His lips are a distraction as they twitch in response to funnier lines in the book. I want to kiss those lips of his and know what they feel like moving against mine. Badly. I read about three chapters before a big yawn interrupts me. Boris opens his eyes and looks me over. “You’re tired.” “It’s way past my bedtime," I admit. “One more chapter and then I’ll go.” I can’t say no to that, can I? I start up again, but this time he doesn’t close his eyes. He watches me the whole time. Every word. And that dark look in his eyes returns—the one I saw when we were dancing earlier. Is he…turned on? By my reading? I finish the chapter and then mark the page. We stare at each other for a long time. I can feel my breathing becoming labored until I can no longer deny what's going on here. My attraction to this man is intensely powerful. He's just…good…for lack of a better descriptor. Is it possible the perfect man exists, and his name is Boris Drăghici? There's definitely something different about him from other men. He's so much more than his amazing body and that chiseled jawline. It’s…him. The whole package. And I'm into all of it. I want him.

About the Author: Brit DeMille is Raine’s alter-ego in case you didn’t know. And she is having an absolute blast writing books that are a little bit different from what Raine usually writes. Brit loves stories about sexy billionaires [millionaires make the cut too] who fall in instalove with young women who may or may not be virgins, and then go on to make adorable babies together. In addition to the billionaires, hot hockey players are at the top of her list of favorite heroes, along with royals and ex-military bodyguards. The most important thing to Brit when she writes a story is a happily ever after. But during the actual writing of the story, the most important thing to Brit is a cup of hot tea with a splash of milk, and a stash of cherry Jolly Ranchers. A dog or two will likely be in between Brit and the chair at any given moment, which is very handy, because they are the ones who approve everything she writes.

I stormed up the stairs and headed straight to my old room—his room. But
when I got to the top of the stairwell, I swallowed the words I’d been prepared to
unleash. The unexpected sight of Caleb doing pull-ups met my eyes. He used a bar
affixed to the top of the door to lift himself up. He wore a T-shirt that rode up each
time he rose. His hard abs were now staring me in the face, ripples of carved muscle.
He had black wrist wraps on. He’d turned my old room into a home gym.
He was a bastard—but there was no denying he was beautiful.
I cleared my throat. “Did my father give you permission to put that thing in
the doorway?”
The house shook as he landed on his feet. “Well, hello, Teagan. Amazing how
easy it is to walk up the stairs, isn’t it? He grabbed a towel and wiped the sweat off
his forehead. “And yes, in fact, your father did give me permission to put the bar up.”
I came out with it. “You think you know it all, don’t you? Who are you?”
He glared at me. “Who am I? Well, nice of you to ask, Teagan.” He threw his
towel down on the desk. “You’ve had no interest in getting to know me from the
moment I walked in the door. But since you finally did inquire… Hi, I’m Caleb Yates.
Happy to be here. I have no clue what I’m doing with my life and have a somewhat
crappy family situation back in England. So, I came to a strange country for the first
time to get away for a bit. I miss my mum, but the good news is, I’ve just moved into a house where everyone is cordial—except for the cranky
girl in the basement.
Wow.
“That’s a bit harsh, don’t you think?”
He came closer, and the smell of his cologne mixed with sweat
was…interesting. Couldn’t say it was a bad thing, that’s for sure.
“You didn’t have to write me a snooty email, Teagan. You can come talk to me
if I do something to piss you off. If you write me emails like that when I’m right
upstairs, that’s the kind of response you’re going to get, each and every time.”
He had a point. The email was a bit cowardly of me. Yet I’d still managed to
convince myself it was a good idea. He was right. Anything I needed to say to him, I
should be able to say to his face. Quite honestly, the benefit of that was also his
face—getting to look at it, I mean. It turned out, looking at him was a lot more fun
than avoiding eye contact had been. Thank goodness he can’t read my mind right
now.
Seeing that he actually seemed angry as opposed to amused caused me to
change my tune—that and perhaps his scent going straight to my head as it followed
my mind right into the gutter.
He held out his hand. “Give it to me.”
I looked down at my empty hands. “Give you what?”
“The stick in your arse. Take it out and give it to me.”
I crinkled my forehead. “What?”
He wiggled his fingers. “Come on. Hand it over.”
Genuinely curious as to where he was going with this, I motioned with my
hand, pretending to remove the imaginary stick from my derriere and throwing it
over to him.
He pretended to catch it, then let it weigh him down. “It’s bigger than I
thought.” Looking around he said, “I’m gonna find a space for it. Hang on.”
I laughed, against my better judgment. He shoved the imaginary stick under
his bed and wiped fake dust off his hands.
“Now that that’s out of the way, why don’t we start fresh?”

SYNOPSIS

The beginning of my sophomore year in college was off to a rough start.
On the first day of orientation, I had an altercation with an infuriating British dude in a campus bathroom.
(The ladies’ room was out of order. So, I used the men’s room. Don’t judge.)
I got home later that night and realized that the foreign student we were expecting to rent a room in my parents’ house was allergic to our cat.
So, the spare room went to someone else: Caleb—the British guy from the men’s room.
And so it began…my love-hate story with Caleb Yates. Or was it hate-love in that order?

The guy knew how to push every one of my buttons.
Sometimes I’d email him to express my aggravation and disdain.
He’d actually rewrite my own words and send them back to me.

That was the type of infuriating person Caleb was.

Excited about Vi Keeland’s upcoming release, Inappropriate?

Check out this SNEAK PEEK

I wondered if he’d be here.
I was mid-conversation with some former colleagues I hadn’t seen in a few years when I got my answer. The sight of him made me lose my train of thought.
On the other side of the room, Grant Lexington stood wearing a classic black tuxedo. He was talking to an older gentleman, which gave me the opportunity to really take him in—tall, broad shoulders, yet not overly bulky, a narrow waist with one hand resting casually in his pants pocket. Even from a distance, his confidence registered. There was something about the way certain men held themselves that showed they were in charge, and that really worked for me. It could take a man who was a seven and make him an eleven in my book. On the other hand, a handsome ten with a meek personality could be reduced to a five.
Mr. Confident held a drink in his left hand and raised it to his mouth, but he stopped before drinking. He seemed to sense something and looked around the room. When his eyes caught mine, a slow, wicked smile spread across his face. He excused himself from the conversation and strode toward me.
My body tingled as I watched him approach with long strides, and I turned from the group I’d been standing with.
“What a pleasant surprise,” he said.
I tried to appear casual as I sipped my champagne. “I’m filling in for Bickman.”
He nodded. “Of course.”
Grant eyed the group next to me. “Are you here with a date?”
“No. You?”
He smiled and shook his head. “Would a compliment be unwelcome? I wouldn’t want to sexually harass you.”
“Compliments are always welcome, Mr. Lexington.”
His eyes sparkled. Taking hold of my elbow, he led me a few feet away from the group I’d been standing with. “That’s a dangerous thing to say to a man like me.”
“What was the compliment anyway?”
Grant’s eyes swept over me. “You look beautiful tonight.”
I blushed. “Thank you.”
Grant stopped a waiter as he passed. He gulped back the rest of the amber liquid in his glass and slipped the flute of champagne from my hand, setting them both down on the waiter’s tray.
“I was drinking that.”
He motioned for the waiter to move along and returned his attention to me. “I’ll get you more when we’re done.”
“Done with what?”
He held out his hand. “Dance with me.”
I shook my head. “I’m not sure that’s such a good idea.”
He smirked. “I’m fucking positive it’s not.”

Blurb: The second the test-the-sexy-scenes offer landed in my lap, I said yes.
After all, I've been damn curious about a few things I've read in romance novels. Do buttons truly go flying across the floor when you rip off a guy's shirt? Is staircase sex hella hot or does it leave you with a big old bruise mark on your back? And don’t even get me started on all that panty shredding, and whether it even works.
Time to find out as I embark on Project Sexy Scenes Research, at the request of my hotshot book editor bestie.
All I need is a willing scene partner. Enter Tristan, my best guy friend. The witty, tell-it-like-it-is, bearded hottie volunteers for the experiment.
He's also the guy who gave me the most devastating, toe-curling kiss of my life ten years ago. But nothing has happened since then. And nothing will come between my panties and our friendship now since we have a plan to keep it PG. But once the buttons start flying, all bets are off…

  EXCERPT
Strong muscles, carved abs, that sprinkling of chest hair that’s the perfect amount of manliness.   My mouth waters. My stomach flips.   And I reprimand the hell out of my brain, the indecent wench.   Friends don’t picture friends in the buff.   “Let’s try it one more time,” I say with a crisp nod and a cool tone. “We’ll do it by the book.”   He clears his throat, his tone shifting. “Peyton, I have another idea.”   I blink. “You do?”   “I do.” He pauses, scrubbing a hand across his chin. “Do you trust me?”   The question is rhetorical. “Of course I do.”   He shakes his head, like that’s the wrong reply. “I know you trust me. But can you trust me right now? To take the lead?” His voice is gentle but somehow commanding at the same time. It’s soothing, and the question says he knows me, but he also needs me to let go. To give in to him.   Can I? Will I stumble if I do?   His eyes lock with mine, and the intensity in his gaze is reassuring, like the security he gave me at his restaurant the other night when he said, I’ve got you.   I give the only answer I can. “I trust you.”   “Good. Then let’s do it.”   “If you say so, Fred.”   His lips curve in a crooked grin. “I do say so, Gingersnap.”   He hits play on “Wicked Game” on his phone and sets it on the table at the bottom of the stairs, and the smooth, sultry strains of Chris Isaak float through the air.   The music pulses, low and sexy, like it’s playing in my body, beating inside me. The effect is heady. It sets the mood for the scene.   A scene we’re simply acting. That’s all this is. Acting and reenacting.   He arches a brow, glances at the stairs, then says in a rumbling, sexy voice, “Been thinking about you all day. Need to get you upstairs and get this off you.”

EXCERPT: Dirty Letters Release Date: 11/05/2019 A Contemporary Romance Novel New York Times Bestselling Authors Vi Keeland & Penelope Ward

Dirty Letters
Release Date: 11/05/2019
A Contemporary Romance Novel
New York Times Bestselling Authors Vi Keeland & Penelope Ward

EXCERPT REVEAL:

The small dining room table had a pile of mail. I’d had Dad’s mail forwarded to my house, so mostly it was just catalogs and junk. Once a month, Mrs. Cascio sent me everything that arrived, even though I’d told her it wasn’t necessary. I mindlessly fingered through the pile, not expecting to see anything worth keeping. But I stopped at an envelope addressed to me—well, not me, but Luca Ryan. That was a name I hadn’t heard in a long time. In second grade, my teacher, Mrs. Ryan, started a pen pal writing program with a small town in England. We weren’t allowed to use our real last names for safety reasons, so the entire class used her last name—hence I was Luca Ryan. I checked out the return address for the sender’s name.

G. Quinn

Wow, really? It couldn’t be.

I squinted at the postmark. It was from a PO box in California, not England, but I didn’t know any other Quinn other than Griffin. And the handwriting did look pretty familiar. But it had been close to eight years since we’d exchanged letters. Why would he write now? Curious, I ripped it open and scanned right to the bottom of the letter for the name. Sure enough, it was from Griffin. I started at the beginning.

Dear Luca,

Do you like scotch? I remember you said you didn’t like the taste of beer. But we never did get around to comparing our taste in hard liquor. Why is that, you might ask? Let me remind you—because you stopped answering my letters eight damn years ago. I wanted to let you know, I’m still pissed off about that. My mum used to say I hold grudges. But I prefer to think of it as I remember the facts. And the fact of the matter is, you suck. There, I’ve said it. I’ve been holding that shit in for a long time. Don’t get me wrong—I’m not obsessive or anything. I don’t sit in my house thinking about you all day long. In fact, there have been months that go by when thoughts of you don’t even enter my brain. But then some random thing will pop into my head out of the blue. Like I’ll see some kid in a pram eating black licorice, and I’ll think of you. Side note—I’ve tried it again as an adult, and I still think it tastes like the bottom of my shoe, so perhaps it’s that you just have no taste. You probably don’t even like scotch. Anyway, I’m sure this letter won’t find its way to you. Or if by some miracle it does, you won’t answer. But if you’re reading this, you should know two things.

1. The Macallan 1926 is worth the extra cash. Goes down smooth.

2. You SUCK.

Later, traitor, Griffin

BLURB

I’d never forgotten him—a man I’d yet to meet.

Griffin Quinn was my childhood pen pal, the British boy who couldn’t have been more different from me. Over the years, through hundreds of letters, we became best friends, sharing our deepest, darkest secrets and forming a connection I never thought could break.

Until one day it did.

Then, out of the blue, a new letter arrived. A scathing one—one with eight years of pent-up anger. I had no choice but to finally come clean as to why I stopped writing.

Griffin forgave me, and somehow we were able to rekindle our childhood connection. Only now we were adults, and that connection had grown to a spark. Our letters quickly went from fun to flirty to downright dirty, revealing our wildest fantasies. So it only made sense that we would take our relationship to the next level and see each other in person.

Only Griff didn’t want to meet. He asked that I trust him and said it was for the best. But I wanted more—more Griff, in the flesh—so I took a big chance and went looking for him. People have done crazier things for love.

But what I found could change everything.
