He studied her beneath his hooded gaze. “I wouldn’t miss your celebration.” He tucked a wayward strand of hair behind her ear, his fingers trailing a path over her cheek in what was a deliberate, lingering touch.
She shivered; her traitorous nipples puckered at his light caress. This was more than the flirting dance they normally did. There was intent in his coffee-colored stare.
You can never outrun your demons. You can try to hide from them, ignore them, suffer with them... in the end, you can only face them head on and deal with them.
This is Olivia Dare's story. We have read about the sexy Dare men and their Dominant natures. Olivia, although she portrays a touch exterior, is very fragile. This is her way of protecting her emotions. She has been deeply hurt and is unsure if she will be able to survive being hurt again. So, she isolates herself from pursuing any serious relationships and protects her emotions by not getting involved.
Dylan Rhodes, her co-worker in charge of travel for the team, knows she is hiding from him. He knows there is a strong attraction between them that cannot be denied. He has been patient with her, allowing her time to get comfortable with. Now the time has come to pursue her. He can no longer deny how he feels about her and must make his move. From the very beginning of this story, Dylan takes the dominant role in this pursuit. He is gentle but firm, always letting Olivia know he is here to stay. Life being what it is does not relent. Olivia is brought to brink as she realizes she must face her past if she is to hope for a future with Dylan.
Love this Dare series by Carly Phillips. Each is a different story unique in plot line and the obstacles our characters must face. This particular story broke my heart. Olivia's story is one that will touch your hearts as you follow her in her pursuit for a happily ever after. By the way, Dylan is scorching HOT in bed... and everywhere else for that matter!
