Just let me say Brut ( just like his name indicates) is a brute in the sense that he never had a romantic relationship. After all these years, having been surrounded by men, he lacks the social skills to woo a girl and share his feelings. His saving grace is that he is a man who has a heart of gold. His only sin is that he is clueless as to how let Lily know that after all these years, he still loves her with all his heart.
This is a great over forty story. For those of us who have been away from the dating scene for a "few" years (cough), this is a story of the awkwardness and sensibilities of reconnecting with an old flame. Loved it!
